Default Which Mods?

Hi after looking through the forum and using the search button i still have no idea what mod does what, so i took my car to the local garage to get some part numbers.

My Turbo is a TD05H
MY Injectors are grey
My ECU is a W6 with these numbers on it 22611AA810, A18-000 RJ8, 3804

The engine has been recently rebuilt with new heads but no info on that, the mechanic checked the turbo for play and it was fine.

recently fitted a decat & straight through exhaust system.

what mods would be best for this car to enhance its performance ?
and that new virus going around is awful i cant stay off the loo

thx Andy

remap. . but to get most really you need to do intercooler and injectors..

the greys are the original, the ecu original and the turbo original (nice unit though)

You have an early wrx then.

Upgraded the brakes may be a good idea (if not done already)

check jollygreenmonsters website (under his profile) or have a look at this one Enduring Solutions Limited (as it has a list of dealers JGM included).

For very little money you could slightly up the boost with GBE valve or similar but you need someone that knows what they are doing and has AFR checking equipment to do that for you. The valve is less than £40. If you can spend a bit more then there are chips or a bit more again and you can get a live mapping system on your ECU. You already have the exhaust so you would get a good gain from ported headers and matched uppipe but that should be done before any mapping. The grey injectors are 380cc and they can be swapped for yellows that are 440cc and they are cheap as chips.

thx guys the bloke i got the car of reckons the guy who sold it him had STI headers fitted and was getting 268bhp at the wheels. how do i tell if it has sti headers fitted? i have the up pipe but the garage said it was a complete nightmare to fit and i would see no benefit so they left the stock one on.

were would be the best place for yellow injectors? i have a new Apexi SAFC2 i got a while back ,is the for the bin?

thx for all the help and information guys

Check the 'for sale' section on here.

268bhp@ the wheels ,imo, i don't think so.

Does the guy have any proof?

also looking at your profile the w6 ecu is incorrect for your year car.

Sti headers and wrx headers are exctly the same, so you wouldnt get any benefit anyway.
As above 268 @ the wheels, definatly not, maybe at the flywheel though.
Does you car still have a cat in the downpipe?

apparently the car had a mechanical boost controller fitted previously and the guy i bought it off removed it, the exhaust has no CAT fitted its from the turbo back.

What ECU should i have?

Thanks again on the info

It would help if we knew the model and year.

I do think you are being told big porkies. Apart from anything else as Marx said STi and WRX from the same model year are exactly the same. If they are not ported you are getting no advantage.
It also sounds like your garage don't have the knowledge or experience or they cannot be bothered. I was charged £70 as a fixed price deal to remove my original headers AND uppipe and refit the ported headers and matched uppipe. No crap about nightmares and the job was finished less than 3hrs after I dropped the car off.

When you say improve 'performance' do you simply mean bhp?

When modifying a car you need to consider what end result you want. For example, what is your suspension set up? Good having power but you need to be able to put it down. Also, do you want a turbo/engine that spools up faster with lots of torque at low revs or again just the highest bhp possible at high revs?

Personally, I would decide what end results you want and then speak to a professional tuner for advice.

Nobody needs to stop Mikkel

Buy this for starters, its a bargain

https://www.scoobynet.com/private-sa...r-cak-kit.html

Plus an Aeromotive FPR (or injectors), a set of GT Spec headers, oil catch can and PFR7B's spark plugs. Can the 96 ECU be remapped?? If not, i'd recommend the Apexi PFC and commander, you can get them easy enough through Andy Forrest and he'll supply/fit & map for £800 + VAT if I remember correctly.

That little lot will set you back a good £2000 and see a good 300/300+ no trouble on a 16G
