Default Panel Filters

Hi all

I have been told that its better to get a panel filter than an Induction kit. I know with some induction kits there is a problem with heat soak etc but i was just wondering does anyone have a panel filter fitted? if so would they say its better than an induction kit? (i know the improvements will be minimal if any)

Prodrive use the OE paper panel filter on the PPP. All others have very minimal increases, if any when dirty. The advantages of say Green or K&N panel filters are you can wash and reuse them.

Main improvment over an induction kit is as you say heat soak.... the oe airbox does a very good job of insulating the engine bay heat away from the inlet charge, warm air before it even reaches the turbo where it will get heated even more is a bad idea, the colder the induction charge the better, keep the aibox, add a cold air feed pipe, use a good quality panel filter, green cotton ones get good reviews, and as posted earlier are re useable so last longer than the standard item.

Don't forget you can get CAK's - APS, AEM, K&N etc.. most of which have dry filters as well.
