Default Slight oil leak...help needed

Hi Guys,

I have a very slight oil leak but i cannot figure out where it is coming from!

It does not drip onto the floor even if i leave the car standing for a few days. I noticed this when doing an oil change yesterday, it seems to be collecting on the sump.

Im thinking it could be running from the back of the engine but not sure

Any ideas?

Front or rear crank oil seal are main culprits, if not it could be the sump gasket itself.

Is it a serious problem if it is the crank oil seal?

It isnt losing much oil at all at the moment

Mine had this problem ( just a trickle of oil that would collect on the bottom of the sump by the drain bolt ) turned out to be the front oil seal - you need to get it changed as it can leak onto the belts ( you'll need to get these changed as well ). IIRC was around £600 for everything at my main dealer.

If you DIY it the price drops to around £65 for a new belt & oil seal for the front. If its the rear its a g/box off job, there is also an inspection cover plate which can leak on the rear.
