2000 was the year that.....

Thought it would be a bit of fun if everyone posted their fav bits of scoobynet banter and discussion here. For some of us they will bring back fond memories, for others, it will start them trawling back to find out what people are on about!
Starter for 10, I remember with fond memories finding out that a KONI equipped cav was THE best handling car in the world many thanks to JasonM for letting that cat out of the bag.
Come on peeps, what still makes you smile now when you remember it!?

The year that my baby arrived, after many anxious months of waiting. I still remember our first day together, and the arrival back at our home for the first time - I remember the smiles from my neighbours too. The joy, the tears, all sorts of emotions came over me.
Oh, and the wife had our first kid too.

this was the year that I had the weird experience of being driven sideways around the magic roundabout at MIRA in my own car by Mr Simon de Banke ... followed by many hours of great fun on said roundabout and the slippy track . Hope for more of the same in 2001.
Oh, and I started a new job, etc etc

Theres so many it's pretty bonkers if i think about it. In no particular order.
Meeting Subie Gal in spring and becoming great friends.
Meeting rsquires, Harj, shaun, Matt Oz, Ronnie, sideways, don palmer, mossman, watty, hippy, docjock, theo, dino, stef, petec, miket, paul, anders, shaun and faye, pat, marka, robmac, i could go on for a long time, there are so many more, all great people, some are even mates
Having way too much to drink at Harj's parties.
Being trusted to look after and drive richards 22B, not just on the road but on tracks as diverse as donington, oulton park and the nurburgring.
Discovering bridgestone SO2 PP's, awesome tyres.
Running a new engine in by doing 1274 miles in 27 hours nonstop in a blizard, crazy trip i will never forget.
Raising £1000 for children in need at donington with the help of some of the guys mentioned above, great day.
Melting more car components than i care to remember on track days.
The disapointment of not running a full season in the BTRDA and the pleasure in seeing our groupA Escort Cosworth Rally Car run in anger for the first time.
Introducing Subie Gal to Richard Burns with the help of scoobynet, big smiles all round.
Smoking the tyres on my Sport on the magic roundabout at MIRA in the wet, way too much fun.
Following a Ringer in his Porche 993RS round the nurbugring at full chat on only my 3rd lap in the westfield, mindblowing.
Seeing ManUtd smash 5 past southampton at Old Trafford, then next visit seeing them suffer there first loss in 2 years, all courtesy of RonnieH.
Most of all though, doing things i wouldnt have dreamed of 12 months ago, in the company of some fantastic like minded people i met because of Scoobynet.
The amazing thing is next year is looking like even more fun, with the impending arival of a 575BHP RS200 to tame on track, trips to WRC rounds abroad and competing in a snow rally in Canada.
All i need now is a big lotery win and i'm sorted, got no time for the work anymore
Hope you all have a great Christmas and New Year, 2000 was a lot of fun.

Getting fogged out on one Clang'n'Ball, then having the time of my life on the next one... and losing my protected NCB a few minutes later...
...but getting my car back in time for Christmas!
If I hadn't been on this BBS - wow, what a boring year it would have been! Kris, Markus, Dom&Kim, Andrei, and all other fellow test pilots; greets to you all!

John, don't get me started. I already hate this time of year, and I don't need a cossie owner to get me all fogged up
But yeah, the people I met this year... not so different from your list actually. Well, there was you, and (copy/paste) Harj, shaun, Matt Oz, Ronnie, sideways, don palmer, dino, stef, but also Colin (Mira), chuckster, JamesH, Kim & Dom, aussie JohnK, Paul trailerman, Dirk and both Rich's from Powerstation, PeteC at the 555 meeting in Holland (he might not remember that ), blowdog in Belgium (who would ever have thought he would become moderator of such an important section )Diesel, Stuart (how to get an exhaust down to legal Ring levels in one hour), TonyQ, and loads of other guys/girls.
Next to that, lots of people on chat (StuartH, DocJock, Watty, hippy, Dawn, you name'm), that I may meet in due time.
And then there's all the Belgian and Dutch guys I met... boggles the mind really !
Even saw a piccie of Sunil
My first trackdays ever, on the Ring (4 times) and on the Zolder circuit, driving around just about a hundred handicapped kids. Still don't know who was the biggest kid on that day ...
Agree with the S02 PP BTW.
My first little tuning steps (quote "I am gonna keep this car completely standard.").
Driving on the left side of the road for the first time in my life (:eek)
So yeah, that's just the car stuff, but a big part of my life this year nonetheless.
The internet is a friggin amazing thing ... so are performance cars.
Cheers to one more year of Scoobynet ! So big thanks to Phil and of course SDB.
Now, can we get on with our normal lives and just insult each other, OK !
