Default List of things that need doing.. anyone fancie guess a total ?

New house.. new job.. moneys not great !

However my baby needs some small things doing and I need to get a general idea of how much

Firstly and most annoyingly.. I need 4 locking nuts removed as the man with the air gun thing has killed my locking nut key !!
I have already bought the replacements.

I need a full 60k service,

My brakes.. hopefully just pads need doing and the hand brake is squeeking so as I drive a long so that needs doing,

New wind screen wipers

I think thats it.. MOT due in Feb

Anyone suggest a price or if anyone owns a garage local to Wallasey/Liverpool area fancie giving me a quote ??

I know its nothing major but its all annoying little bits that need sorting and I'm guess it wont be cheap.

Oh and whilst I'm here my car has FSSH.. its MY99.. does it matter about keeping it at this age now?

Not sure on the service price as I do my own. Most tyre fitters should have a tool like a socket that has a course thread inside and when placed over the locking wheel nut tightens down on to it and and unscrews it. Don't tell them attack the lock nuts with a chisel.

removing locking nuts are easy, you can buy the removal socket in 3 size's from unipart for (when i got mine) £2.49 and i used just 1 socket to do all 4,

I had it done at the same time as a load of other bits, I think from memory it was about an hours worth of labour.

Why isn't the person who bu66ered up your wheel nuts paying to sort that out?

Windscreen wipers! FFS, change them yourself and save some cash.

Brakes - DIY if you're mechanically minded, not a difficult job.

How about change the wipers then pop it down for a pre MOT.... save any suprises when it actually runs out.

As for the service, the 60k on my 02 was 500 notes. On the bug its a full fluids change which mounts up a bit. Specialists might charge a bit less.

You can probably go down to any tire place when its quiet and give them a tenner to remove the locking wheel nuts. I just whack a socket on a size to small and it usually digs in enough to remoce the nut

Should be instructions on this site.

Basically:
undo top of brake fluid reservoir
remove wheel
remove pad (unsecure it etc.)
copper grease BACK of new pad
insert pad and secure
re-tighten brake fluid reservoir cap.

These are simplified instructions, check for a To-Do, not sure if there's a FAQ on here.
test.

Drum?!! Brakes usually squeak if they are worn and there's a wear indicator (it makes a squeak) or that there's no copper grease at the back of the pad so the pad is squeaking against the caliper.

Sure a local garage or fast fit will change for £20/£40? Or any SNetters local to you? Watch how they do it so next time you'll know what to do.

Yeah the hand brake uses a rear drum ?

Its since that was "serviced" for a crappy handbrake it has squeaked
