Default Can i beat a snowmobile?

Hi Guys

My wife is in the market for a new car and she wants to know if a Fiesta 1.25 lx can beat a 2008 Polaris Turbo Dragon snowmobile in the dry across the Brecon Beacons?

Then its being able to beat it in the snow, which will involve a little spend.

Finally I want to be able to beat it in a straight line 0-60 and/or 1/4 mile.

Is this impossible? The 2008 Polaris Turbo Dragon snowmobile does 0-60 in around 9s and does the 1/4 mile in around 18s.

What sort of BHP is possible with these Fiesta's?

Would I be better with some sort of Focus or Fabia?

Thanks in advance

I'd think the Fiesta hasn't got a snowball's chance. The snowmobile's got 140bhp and 3 less seats for a start.

What surface(s) is the race taking place on? I'd imagine not dry tarmac, for the snowmobile.

Very Top Gear.... (apart from the Fiesta)

J.

the thing is that most snowmobile owners cant ride for toffee, mind you all the fiesta drivers out there hate the snowmobile riders, but secretely they would all have one at the drop of a hat (if they had the cahoonas to do thier snowmobile test that is)

oh and another thing, its never dry on the brecon beacons

I think really it depends how twisty the road is, the slill of the rider and, erm if there's any snow ! Thing is that the snowmobile will do as standard, for buttons and the Fiesta will need to be highly modified (say, by putting a new backbox on it).

Just googled some stats for the ring :

Fiesta - it broke down

Spec C - 8.00 mins

Snowmobile - 6.58 mins

I think the "6.58mins" was a pro-snowmobile rider though..... Most Fiestas could see off an "average" rider on the snowmobile (10min+ ring times aren't that uncommon for day-visit snowmobiles).

Remember with a snowmobile it all comes down to power to weight - all I can say is that the rider that took 10 mins must have overdosed on bratwurst at breakfast time !!

remember snowmobiles have to do the 'extended GP Ring' so that time is more like 9!

i think if u get the fiesta a dump valve and sti stickers that would help, oh and dont forget winter tyres, we all know you must have winter tyres or the snow will disintegrate your rubber and leave you on rims alone.
