Default HELP 2003 WRX BUYING ADVICE PLEASE

Hi today I have been to look at a 2003 WRX sportwagon in silver 70K 2 owners tax and tested, silver. It looked very tidy but there are some things that worry me, first the guy is definitely a trader and the service history is complete until the last one which has been done by BMW and it has a towbar. Can anyone tell me what to look out for on this version or should I just look for another. Price £6000

All sounds Ok and mine has gone past 70k with no problems and its not standard. I don't think its an issue that the last service was done at BMW, its just a car after all. Worth checking though that it did have the cambelt service at 50k. If you don't have a mechanic friend who can come along to look at it then it might be worth having one of those RAC or AA checks done to make sure all is well. Particularly if it is a trader selling it. Sounds like the car is not modified but worth finding out what if any modifications it has. I wouldn't want a car that had had an induction kit fitted for example.

It's definately a buyers market at the moment so if you're not 100% just leave it and look for another.
Have a look at the FAQ over at SIDC

Subaru Impreza FAQ

Hope this helps a bit

p.s. Check if it's a genuine Uk car or not as it can affect resale.
Mines a Euro import and I know there are buyers that won't want it despite it being identical to a uk car. Price and import accordingly.

If the guy had just said I got it from the auctions or whatever and I am just making some cash on it I would not care its just the silly story he came up with that fell to bits when I checked the service history because he said he owned it for 6 months but did not know it was serviced two months ago at BMW, documents were not in his name and I found the plastic keyring they put on the cars at the dealers in the car.
I think the car looks fine and if it had been a private sale a deal would have been done, good car good price just something saying don't do it you have been here before.
I just don't understand why it would not be on a forcourt somewhere

A Subaru Impreza serviced at a BMW dealership? Phone the BMW dealership mate and confirm that the car actually was serviced there.

its cheap i think at that money. be a lot more from a dealer. worth checking rear struts. mine needed them done under warrenty but this won't have one so worth being sure. listen for knocks and bumps from the rear going over a bump.

5t.

Personally wouldn't touch it.
a/ Has a tow bar - could've been towing anything from a wee halfords
trailer to a bloody speed boat.
b/ Suspiciously cheap
c/ You've got a gut feeling that something's no quite right !!
Just walk away mate, there are hundreds to choose from.
Craig.

Use The Force, Luke

I am going to trust feelings on this one and walk away and go see my Bank manager and get some more cash and go for the STI version.
But if there is any one interested it is the 03 sportwagon in silver on autotrader for £6250 and its in Rotherham so any one is local check it out for me and if its OK I still would like it because it was in good condition
