Default Which underseal?

I need to underseal my car, I'm going to do it myself as I'm sure it can't be that hard??!

Just want to know if anyone has done their own car themselves and if so which underseal did you use?

Also is there any areas to aviod with the underseal or any areas I should definately cover?

Any help appreciated.

Az.

I did mine last year myself.

I used Carplan Tetraseal i think it was called, about 10 quid for a 5 litre drum or somet.

its thick like tar stuff, pour some in a pot and paint it on...but wear some old rags as its a right tw^t to get off.

just put it on the body underneath and even under the arches etc

keep it off your exhaust and so on.

Thats brilliant, cheers for the info mate, I'll get on the case tomorrow and see if I can buy that in Halfords or the local motor factors. Got it booked in at my mates garage to use his ramp on wednesday evening so hopefully all will go well.

Cheers again.

If you have access to a ramp get it sprayed with black waxoyl - only £16 a gallon and if your mate has a compressor you can get it sprayed into all the awkward spots and the chassis legs etc that you wont get near with a brush.A gun for spraying waxoyl is only £15 or so and can be reused every year.I noticed on my car that there was absolutely no protection under the plastic underbody covers when I took them off.A gallon is plenty for one car and you dont need to warm up the black waxoyl unlike the brown/clear stuff.Get a papersuit with a hood though as it is a very dirty job but well worth doing.

Agree - use Waxoyl. But the car should be clean and dry too before you start so you need to think about that.

Do not use underseal. That merely seals in any moisture.

If you want the job done properly - and its not cheap at around £500 [yes, I know, but if you love your car and want to keep it in tip-top nick] you should go to:

Why it has to be Before ‘n’ After

At least read it anyway as it gives away tips on how best to apply, etc..

Yes the waxoyl will peel off if the car is damp/dirty.A poly decorators cover over the car when you are spraying the waxoyl saves a load of hassle as a haze settles on the car and is a pain to clean off.
