Any other women out there?
Hi, I have just joined scoobynet having had my subaru for about 4 months now - WRX turbo, not STI (does that make me an inferior member??) and I love it...........and am getting used to the quizzical looks some men give (always driving inferior cars of course) when they see me driving it!
I am happy to talk to anyone about my favourite subject of my car, although I have to say I don't do technical talk yet - but was thinking that there must be some other subaru owning female speedfreaks out there......
I haven't done anything with the car yet, other than have a 5" exhaust fitted (and that's as technical as that description gets) so the sound is now brilliant. Was thinking along the lines of should I have this car modified or upgrade to an STI -right now I don't have the finances to do either, and just want to enjoy what I have, but I would be pleased to have anyone's opinion on that or anything else........
Thanks, Lorraine

You wait until you you start getting rep man in his ford, audi, bmw etc sees you and decides that he doesn`t want to be overtaken by a lady in a scoob. This happens to the wife all the time when she drives mine on her own. Any way welcome to the community and enjoy.

Yes it is v. loud - never liked my neighbours much anyway. Actually I'm a very shy and retiring person except when I'm in that car. By 5" I do mean the tailpipe diameter, am still waiting for all the technical paperwork/ guarantee etc from friend of a friend etc, but it seems pukka

Hi Lorraine welcome to the site, your not alone on that one I did the children in need convoy in Norwich and as we were going round I heard blokes saying "theres a girl driving that one" as if I shouldn't be driving it and yes some looks you get as your driving around quite funny really.
So where abouts in Essex are you?

If your in Essex, best get yourself along to one of the Essex Meets which are held at two locations each month.
Have a look HERE and see whats happening in Essex or navigate to the Essex section of this forum. Lots of friendly approachable people.
Next meet is on the 13th at the Halfway House on the A127 at Brentwood. Its the only place you get to see grown men wearing pink !!

I spent 2 years not attending meets etc because I was on my own Lorraine, I now am Chairman of the North Yorkshire Subaru Owners club and attend all sorts of events. There are some really nice people out there, people that appreciate a woman can be into the cars and a car site without being there for the men

Hi ! Welcome to S'net
Many owners have kids and take them to meets... Eh ! G.I.A.S.
Clubs aren't just full of geeky "lads", they are family friendly
Dunx (Geeky old lad....)
Dog-owner * 3, but no kids...

Thanks 4 that - guess it's just a case of going once and breaking the ice. I will probably have 2 take my 11 yr old son along for company, he's as mad about the car as I am! My 14 yr old daughter is complaining bitterly as I write at being left out so looks like it will be 3 of us turning up then!
Like Dunx says... the clubs arnt all full of geeky lads... nice term Dunx (see you on the 7th at Squires?)
There are also some really great guys out there, you'll soon separate the ones that arnt worth the time and also those that are threatened by a woman in a powerful car... Ive met all sorts and its easy to spot the loons (sometimes)
Enjoy your car, take a friend maybe to the meets and for those at meets that think you are there for the blokes your best weapon is to learn about your car and be able to hold your own.
