Vauxhall Vectra | Auto Express News | News | Auto Express
2.8 litre V6, twin turbo, 300+bhp, satnav as standard with loads of other stuff, nice bodykit, 19" wheels, etc etc.
The Scoob is dead, long live 4wd.

Bet you it is.
SAAB are now taking orders for February delivery of its version of the same car, its called the Turbo X : 280 BHP with 400nm Torque 4x4 saloon, Hirsch (SAAB Official Tuners) will also have the ECU flash available ready for delivery which can add if required an additional 35-45 BHP.
Tested 0-60 figures of 5.7 secs.
It uses SAAB's new XWD 4 wheel drive system.
The SAAB is £30K though.

Does look good - but I'd be still concerned about the deprecation and attitude of the dealers !! In my eyes worse than subaru - especially the deprecation - Subaru NEED to up their game !

If it doesn't have any stupid scoops or spoilers, it could be the next family sized "Q" car.......which the Impreza once was before the wannabees all came along and bought them; ruining the marques "Q-ness"
It ticks the boxes, but it looks expensive compared to how much a VXR8 is costing nearly new. Maybe a bargain if they depreciate to the £15K mark when 2nd hand

Nothing depreciates quicker than a new Subaru, why ? Because they bring out new models every 6 months and in the process f#ck up the residuals of the current style.
As for the dealers they are Champagne drinkers with lemonade money.
The majority dont understand the brand following and give a p#ss poor service led on the whole by IM.

I can't think of one good thing about a vauxhall. Go on amaze me.
I've had the misfortune to have had friends or g'friends that have had vauxhalls, pile of rotting unreliable badly built ****e, the lot of them.
and no one chavs up a car like vauxhall owners.
get on barryboys.co.uk if you don't believe me.

I know what you are saying with regard the Chav factor but to be fair the Monaro and the VX range in general are very good and have come on leaps and bounds, the spec list is very impressive and build quality is also very very good.
Most people can also get there hands on a GM discount voucher which makes them even more attractive.

1. The engines: easily tuned, strong, cheaper than Scoobs for parts, and add-ons.
2. Dealer in every town, (I know, it's NOT a problem if you have a Scoob dealer in YOUR town, but my nearest is 30 miles, or 25miles and £5 to cross the Humber
3. Generally better specced than the equivalent Scoob.
4. Better interior.

Why do people think a Subaru is so superior to a Vauxhall or a Ford? Don't get me wrong, I love my scoob but are they really that much better anymore?
Maybe a few years ago, but I really think the others are catching up (if not already caught up).
In Japan a Subaru is as common as a Vauxhall or Ford is over here.
That new vauxhall looks like a real contender against the scoob to me.

as my username suggests ive owned quite a few before i got the subaru,in fact every time somethin breaks thats gonna take ages to fix i can usualy find a decent cheap banger to runabout in like my current 1.4 kreg 200 quid astra 3 dr as my engine decided to spit the dummy (amongst other things) they get a bad rep, usually from people that havent owned one but "their mates said they were crap".Granted there have been a few dogs/problems but thats to be expected with any manufacturer
