Are the Police fair?....Are they F*ck !!!
Now i have another three points due to our 'friendly' local bobbies . a quiet, long straight road at 9pm and i parked outside the local indian to pick up me ruby 2 mins later two boys in blue shout in 'what idiot owns the Subaru...' well that will be me, outside sonny, ****in sonny i look older than u, ah well what now. i had parked with my front bumper over the zizags before a crossing, ah well a bit of greef from the plod i thought oh no full scale riot act, told that small children could be trying to cross at 9pm and a car coming down that long straight with good veiws wouldnt see them and would defo hit them and so on and so on, so i banged on about all the other cars packed ilegaly and was told tuff, i basicly shouldnt be driving a subaru impreza on there patch..... tossers, then they ripped my car apart got traffic down and tested to see if i had a cat, was there for over a hour me ruby was ****ed . i had less hassel when i was 17 in me mk2 escort going flat oot every where well as they say 'You'll never take me alive copper'

This sort of thing P*sses me off big time, you're an easy target. My wife got hit by a polish transit last week in Oldmeldrum, failed to stop, result a written off VW Lupo & the police said ' not a lot they can do'

I really hope ksa74f didn't recieve an infraction for that.
Everyone's entitled to an opinion. And I think more than a few of us have been surprised by officers' reactions when we've needed help.

Complain to the department....
They can not call you sonny! Police have to be polite and not use slang!
They can not say tuff about the other cars!
They will also have to justify why they singled you out!
Even if they come up with a load of c r a p, you made them take the time to write back to you...

Don't forget the police are public servants they should be poilte to you.
I would have gone down the pace route and sat there all night reading their manual - that would have pissed em off

IMO a lot of police are a pain, I wouldn't say all though
A m8 of mine got stopped in Ipswich a week or so ago. There were about 10 police about and one of them pulled him over. This copper mentioned to him about one of his tyres were abit low. My m8 said he would take it to the garage to pump it up! The copper was ok with that and let him go He then said about 100 yards down the road, he was stopped again by a different copper. He said that his collegue had stopped him about his tyre and was concerened! The copper then asked my m8 if he had any points on his licenece? My m8 said no then the p** said well, you have now! He done him there and then for not having a raod worthy car (or something like that)
BTW he drives a Nissan 200sx S14
He is now writeing a letter of complaint to the station in question

A couple of days ago daytime starting off from a traffic light i used my first gear too hard it seemed (up to 4000 revs with quarter throttle) which does sound abit violent in my car i must admit.
The cops were going the other way, immediately turned around and proceeded to stop me. When they stopped me i was quite annoyed and asked them what was the reason for stopping me.
He and his mate was sure that i was racing and speeding, so i told them that i wasnt and they couldnt possibly judge my speed or acceleration as they were going the other way - so why stop me ? After that, he slapped handcuffs on me, and said - "we'll find you a reason". Didnt even ask my name.
Searched through my car, called a van - put me in the back of it and started going through my car, started it up and kept revving it - inbetween i could hear they were asking each other if they ever saw a car like that before (have a heavily tuned subaru legacy)! And how they "thought" i could afford a car like that.
Back at the police station, the guys who stopped me told their sergeant how i was swearing at them, trying to fight them and resisted arrest. WHen i said they were lying, sergeant told me to keep it quiet. After taking my prints and pictures, they put me in a cell for 3 hours. When i spoke to a lawyer she said that i best accept all the charges they give me, so that i can leave the police station and if i have any objections i can take it to court anytime after that. So in the end i was given an 80 pound charge for causing alarm and distress and was sent off. When i got back to my car it had a parking ticket on it as they didnt even put a sticker on it to call parking guys off.
Spoke to a lawyer, he said that all i can do is write a complaint as there were no cameras around and in court it would be 2 police officers against me, so i'd lose and be stuck with even more charges..
It seems obvious now how those pigs come up with increased crime numbers that are being so effeciently dealt with.
Just took it up the chin and learnt that its best not to try and prove anything to those morons and never respond to any provocation.

Two points: If you've owt to say, say it AFTER the verbal NIP and/or caution.
Then, IMMEDIATELY after they've given you a verbal NIP, caution or whatever, you say, (AND USE THESE EXACT WORDS):
"I do not recognise the significance of those words and I would like to exercise my legal right to refer to PACE- The Police and Criminal Evidence Act".
This will cause two things to happen:
1. They'll have to hand you a copy of PACE, which is a VERY thick document. You can then sit in their car reading it for as long as you like, and they can't leave until YOU are finished.
2.They'll start to treat you with a great deal more respect.
NB: Not many cars actually HAVE a copy of PACE on board, so they'll ALSO have to radio the station and have someone bring them a copy
Shamelessly nicked from the Pepipoo site.
All drivers, IMHO, should have a copy of this in their car with them at all times. Just in case.
Oh, and the "All coppers are w@nkers" comment? Not true, but PLEASE, for your own good, TRUST ANY COPPER ABOUT AS FAR AS YOU COULD CHUCK HIM AND HIS CAR!
That is from BITTER experience, on more than one occasion, btw, before anyone infracts ME

The "Pace witness" statement from pepipoo site is no longer a working defence, since the outrageous decision from the ECHR Francis and O'Halloran case.
Andy
Ps asking for a copy of pace will **** the coppers off no end and tie them up for hours in what is a money making exercise. If you have time to do this, go for it.
If the police disregard your request for a copy of pace and you have managed to record this, then you will have a defence, technical one. Read O'Shea it might help.

All coppers are tw@ts imo, not only do they need their priorities sorting out, they are mostly contradicting idiots who pick on easy targets!
Iwas on the **** with the missus the other week having a laugh outside while she had a cig, and a copper of no more than 22 told me to stop ******* swearing or id be arrested!!!
How did this moron become a copper!!!! Dont they have psycological tests!!!
And as for the police getting a traffic car to check emissions for cats?? WTF!!
Sounds like someone was jealous of a scooby, and cant afford one on a pants police salary!!!!
I swear something must of happened to most of them as a child(mother not loved them enough, dad was a tranny etc.....) to make them be numpties!!

And another thing.....
WHO PUT POLICE ON PERFORMANCE RELATED PAY?????????????
If they need 200 prosecutions a month, and they only have 180, you can bet the next 20 will be for "nothing" reasons, like one wheel on a zigzag at 9 at night, saying children r at risk is rubbish. They just wanted to go back to the boss with the full quota of prosecutions and a pat on the back!!!!
TAKE AWAY POLICE TARGETS!!!!! and they might be a bit fairer(might)!!

While I'm no fan of the police isn't it the case that they could have given the original poster 3 points for parking on a zig-zag? As they didn't it seems he got off lightly.

ive got mixed feelings on them
in generall yeh there ???! but ive had a few traffic pull me and they all been sound as asking about car etc. i think its the local beat bobbys who are about 18 that got bullied at school which are the idiots one of the blokes i went to school with he was a idiot couldnt stick up for himself and he was a grass to teacher sort of bloke now i heard from someone that hes having a comp. with another new pc on who can get the most arrests this year how sad. i had one bloke pull me must of been bout 20y.o try telling me i was driving to quick . i was quick to show my anger and asked if i could have a look at his in-car camera or speed device to prove this. as was obvious he didnt have one in his 1.4 panda astra and before cheekly going on my way i advised him he had been sat observing traffic for at least 20mins on a double yellow line and that he should nip to halfords and replace his rear tail light bulb that had blown before you stop and try to give words of wisdom.
what an idiot dont mind if they know what there talking about !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY defense
I've got pulled over a few times, one for the traffc light booting.
I was polite, on one oscation they made reference to my accent (not English). I counted to 10, then asked them if they wanted to take it any further I would like them to record an incident or verbal racism; they immediately let me go.

It always makes me laugh when people post on here saying what a bunch of tossers the police have been with them and then in the same post say how they were mouthing off at the police! What do you expect if you do that?!?!? It's best to just take it on the chin that you did something you really shouldn't have and take it from there. That copper was right in saying you shouldn't have parked over the lines and that a child could have been trying to cross. He was probably just trying to avoid having to knock on another door to tell some parents that their child had been knocked down and killed!
I've only ever had good experiences from the police i've met. When I was pulled they were more than fair and seemed decent blokes who were just doing their job. I've got a lot of respect for them
Oh, and saying they are ALL tossers is like saying all Subaru drivers are chavy boy racers so lets not go down that route please lads

I'm sure there are two sides to this story, a lot will depend on the attitude of the driver.
It certainly seems harsh, but without all the facts, who knows? Did they find anything wrong with the car after inspecting it for an hour?

without being there- who knows how someone was parked, or what dangers were being caused.
in 20 yrs of driving, some of us have had no hassle from the police- think some people bring it on themselves.
if you're driving round with yr fog lights on and bass thudding out, yr an easy target surely.
I know police officers will pull ****ey looking wrecks with idiots driving them all day long- too easy.
other point, is some peoples attitude straight away probably gets them a ticket instantly, inside of being a gentleman about it all.

I was really angry when I found out the car wasn't even registered, what if I had hit someone trying to avoid the accident or worse ended up in hospital?!
But going back to the OP, I know how you feel mate, I used to get it in my RX7 all the time. Best thing to do is not get angry, be apologetic and listen to what they have to say, as soon as they realise your on their side and not trying to be a problem they will soon calm down.
If they don't do what I did, take their names/badge details and go to the police station to make a formal complaint, they soon change their tune after that.

next time take out your mobile and record whats being said or better yet, film it,illegal yes but when you make the complaint to the chief inspector about the abuse you got and are being sworn at by a police officer and let him hear it,post it onto theinternet then threaten to send to a journalist from the local paper, they are very responsive

Maybe I'm just lucky, but having spent 20 years on bikes and in cars, I've been stopped once by the police. I was on a Kawasaki AR80 and didn't have an L plate on. I was apolegetic and the policeman was very fair, said make sure you get one straightaway and sent me on my way.
As said above though, I drive reasonably sensibly and don't modify my car and don't have my music loud etc. etc.
