Default Parallel Fuel Rail Mod

This has prob been asked before but... Does anyone have any information on how to go about changing the fuel rails to a parallel setup? I have a FuelLab pressure regulator to fit once i have an idea of how to do it.

What fuel pressure should a 95 WRX have at idle and on boost? This could possibly change with the mods i've done...

K&N induction kit
H&S 3inch exhaust system from turbo back, standard headers and up-pipe.
Pro Alloy FMIC
Walbro 255lph fuel pump

Once the regulator is fitted i will go on to fit a set of 550cc injectors. Then hopefully a trip up to see Andy Forrest.

cheers

It'll no be hard to do. Built an escort cosworth hillclimb car with my dad last year from the bare shell. Done the fuel rails on that. Cant be any harder?

I built my own parallel fuel rails. Very easy to do,I just searched through previous posts on here and went from there.

No I haven't,sorry. I did think about taking photos when I was doing the conversion but I never got round to it !

I would try and explain how to do it on here but I wouldn't want to get the details wrong and mess your conversion up !

I did mine with the inlet manifold removed from the car, made it very easy.

I have a list of the parts required somewhere,i'll try and dig it out.

That's the way I was going to do it but the cost was huge compared to just cutting the fuel pipes and building a diy setup.

Here's the list of parts I used from Demon Tweeks with their part numbers and cost:

FSEIH001 8MM HIGH PRESSURE HOSE 4 METRES @ £3.55 PER METRE

FSEMTP002 METAL T-PIECE 5/16 BARBED ENDS 2 @ £3.40 EACH

LMA328 13MM PETROL PIPE CLIPS 12 @ 40P EACH

DEI010418 HEAT SHEATH ALUMINIUM SLEEVING 1/2" X 36" @ £13.58

You might not need the Aluminium sleeving but one of my fuel hoses runs very close to my 20g turbo so I thought it would be better if it was protected from the heat.

You will also need a tube cutter to cut the fuel pipes cleanly. I used one from Screwfix which cost around £3. You could just use a hacksaw but I wouldn't

this is how i did mine, cost me about £30 not including the FPR! just cut the rails and put pipe on with 2 jubilee clips for security, worked a treat. x 2 plastic t pieces and then went too and from the fuel feeds and return with the FPR on the return. Easy.

Is it possible to use the factory fpr, or do you have to buy an aftermarket one?

I think you need an aftermarket one but no 100% sure as I already had one fitted before I did the conversion.

The O/E item works at a fixed pressure but an after market item should give you adjustable fuel pressure which is useful if you want to extend the range of your injectors a little.
The mod is not difficult as long as you have everything together before you start the work but I do question the need for it having run a number of seriously modified two litres on O/E fuel rails. ie well over 500 bhp.

I've got a parrallel fuel set up on mine.

Its a true parrallel rail setup with modified rails, reverse flow, all goodridge -6 anodised fittings, braided hoses and an SX Fuel pressure reg. Its set at 3 bar atmospheric pressure.
I use Nismo 740cc Injectors.

Here's some pics:

When you say reverse flow, which direction do you mean? Front to back or back to front?

which injectors get the fuel first; when you reverse the flow on a standard serial set up nr 3 gets the fuel first. On a parallel with reverse flow it is injectors three and one get the fuel first.

Reverse flow means that instead of the front two getting fuel first the rear two do. i.e the feed goes to the rear and the return comes out of the front and goes to the regulator.

Cheers

Alright Ollie.

Mine came from Martin Fox, posts as MEF...mostly on 22b.com though. Good guy, he can supply you with the whole kit (braided hose, fittings etc), or just send your standard fuel rails off to have the fittings added.

Fine if you don't need your car for weeks....

He doesn't have any stock of modded rails, so I would have had to remove mine, send them off to him, and wait for them to be modded, before finally sending them back !

So I'm just fitting the regulator...

After also giving up on Mocom, RCMS, Scoobyclinic amongst others....

I can't give my hard earnt away ! LOL

DunxC

P.S. I got my hose and fittings from DT ! One stop shopping ace.

I used the OE regulator up to 333BHP with an adapter from Mef (It's now surplus btw).

The parallel mod can be done very simply and cheaply:

Some people talk absolute rubbish on here.
My standard reg failed at around 340bhp.

It let to much fuel back to the tank and ended up with a lean cylinder and a melted piston. I'm now running circa 500bhp without issue.

For absolute certainty I'd change the standard reg for an SX, Fuel Labs or equivelant. Stay away from FSE though.

I got mine from Mocom and service was excellent with very good delivery.
