Hey there,
My car took a very small knock in the back. As a results its currently getting the boot resprayed and bumper replaced.
I know the letters will be removed, and I asked the garage not to put them back on because:
a) I want to see if I like it bear
b) I want to be the ones to put them on as I fear the body shop will mis-space them or put them on too high/low.
So, if and when I re-add the lettering, whats the best way to get it right, as it was before it got a slap up the rear?
I have some photos up close of the boot before it went to the garage, just wondered what methods people on here have used in the past?
Cheers
Ryo.......

Yeah I kinda like it, but I really want to keep it as it should be, as if the slap up the *** never happened?
If I leave it bear I will be reminded of why its bear, it took a hit. That makes me sad :-(

simple. find a mate (or helpful user on here) with a classic. compare the two and get a ruler.... jobs a good 'un
I thought it would end up with a ruler, millimeter by millimeter to get it right.

You can't put the letters back on, when you remove them it pulls all the sticky stuff of the back, it will look a real mess if you try to put them back on by glueing them.Originally Posted by Ryo

When you get the replacement lettering which are about £65 from a stealer, the SUBARU comes attached to a cardboard template so you cannot mis-space the lettering.
This is how I did mine

Norman - You can put them back on, I have done it with my friends JDM STI. What you need to do is clean the sticky residue from the back of each letter. I used vinegar and WD40 to do this. Once you have removed this then clean any oil/grease from them. Next go out and buy some double sided sticky tape, try to get one that is the same width as the height of the letters. Then stick the letters to the sticky side then cut around them for the shape of each letter. Once this is done, just peel the back off each letter. Before you stick them to the boot make sure it is clean and grease free.Originally Posted by Norman Dog

I done my freinds over a year ago and show no sign of moving, evan when he washes the car with a jet wash.
Hope this helps.

Because its an insurance job the letters will be provided by a dealer, so should come with that Template - Hurrah!
Thanks for the info mate.

Just a tip, when sticking them back on use masking tape to get them straight and level, get the surface clean and get a hairdrier/heatgun on the boot to warm it up (be careful though) then heat again once on.
