What Turbo ??
I own an X Reg 2001 last of the classic shape, im pretty sure that the Turbo is a TD04 i would just like a few people to confirm this please im having trouble with the turbo looks like im going to need to change it. Im wondering if i could fit a TD05 as a direct replacement without having to change or re-map the ECU?
Also could anyone give me some details on what ECU maybe in the car or the easiest way to find out, Thanks guys any help would be really appretiated

Yes, it'll be a TD04. You can remap the 01 ECU using Ecutek3 software (or rather, somebody that knows what they are doing with it can !)
If you fit a TD05 you'll need a remap and some other bits - it'll be pricey !
How much do you have to spend ? Is the car standard ?
Obvious options are TD04 Hybrid, VF35 and TD05 16G. From first to last, they increase in power, but as you go for more power you tend to lose a little responsiveness and the car will spool later. However, most folk that have gone for any of these turbos seem pretty happy with them.

If its a uk model then it will be a TD-04, and a TD05 should bolt straight on, however you might need a remap.
What i will say though is although the TD04's run out of puff at the top end and are normally limited to 270ish bhp they (if set up right) make for a lovely quick spooling fast road car.
when i had mine remapped i was quite happy with the performance and point to point it kept up with a lot of quicker stuff.
just a thought

You could always go for a second hand TD04, plenty of them kicking around as most people upgrade from them if money is tight at this time of year.
Save on a remap and other bits too.
