Freak weather, climate change, tropical UK etc etc - but it's bitterly cold down here (anglia) and I am not looking forward to getting up at 5 am to get ready for work :s

started at around lunchtime here in north sheffield/edge of the pennines,still at it,around 4-5 inch's and getting heavier

no snow down here in Sussex, just horrible wind and rain.
I'm sitting here on a battery laptop with a candle lit, the house lights have flickered off/on four times this evening already

4WD will be better than 2WD for getting traction to move you forwards, but they won't stop any quicker and can under-steer just as badly. Some hate the scooby's ABS in such conditions and temporarily disable it by pulling the associated fuse. Be aware though if you stuff it with inoperable ABS then the insurance company may have grounds for not paying out. Low profile tyres are not what you want in snow, you want thin skinny tyres. A 2WD car equipped with winter tyres will comfortably outperform a 4WD car on summer tyres.
Go find an empty car park and learn about the handing in snow and most importantly, have some fun

Wide tyres, low profile = take the greatest care - it is not a licence to be a looney!
However, spare set of wheels, proper WINTER tyres [they have more silicone in the mix so they are more flexible], some weight in the boot if no passengers on board, keep the fuel tank full helps too, and you'll get along very nicely.

iv just been out in the biggerst car park i could find and had a whale of time the car was quite hard to get it to lose traction but once it went it was great i was getin the hang of the power slides but thought i should stop before i got to cocky and hit some thing !!

no car parks near me. and the ones that are big, have stupid metal barriers in the middle to prevent people having fun
