Default stupid rear seat design

why oh why is the rear seat fixed on the hawkeye STi(except for a port hole). On my last 03 WRX the whole of the back seat folded down which was ideal for carrying lengths of timber etc.Now i have to beg a favour if i want to pick something that is longer than 3ft in length....

I think all the STi's have got a solid rear bulkhead. My MY03 STi has.

More rigid to aid better handling or something like that I think

i thought it might be something like that but i wouldnt have though the rear seat would make any noticable difference bearing in mind the iron work surrounding it

Actually the 05>wrx is the same, although you do have a load through hole..

I think it's to do with the isofix child seat anchors/NCAP safety etc..

Surprised there's no load through though..!

So are there any other MY05> owners who have a load through centre arm rest (not folding/split) in the rear seat..?

Mine's an EU car BTW, with the better/humped centre front seats..

my '52 bug wrx has got fixed rear seats as well - i assumed it was the same for all the 4dr saloons.... did some models get folding rear seats? (other than the wagons of course).

Didn't actually realise i couldn't put the rear seats down until i went to put something big in it a week after i'd bought the car
