Default Anyone used JAWarehouse 4 a turbo?

Seen these selling turbo's on ebay at half the price on a TD0518g,based in japan just wondered if anyone had bought a turbo from them?

Yes, avoid them. I bought an 18g, paid 40 quid for 4/5 day postage. Waited 2 weeks and nothing arrived, emailed them and got no response so reported them to paypal, still nothing so raised it to a claim. Next day I got a full refund and a mail stating the turbo's were out of stock for at least a month....bunch of tw@ts.

Then to top it off 3 days later they reported me for none payment!! needless to say they got a very colourful email and I have heard nothing since.

TOTALLY AVOID - the turbo's are cheap junk. Im sure theres another thread about this seller somewhere.

I bought a brand spanking new 20G from him. One it was put on and remapped the car made only 290 bhp. They just dont make the power they claim they do.

I emailed JAwarehouse many times and he was blaming the tuner not the turbo. Its supposed to be supplied with 3 months warrenty but he dinclined when i asked to be refunded.

Had the expense of taking the crap turbo off, buying a new turbo and extra labour and mapping charges

If the unit is new, surely they come with a 12 month Warrenty.

Perhaps they are a tarted up rebuild.

Save your money and buy a decent one.

It depends what BHP your looking for.

Don't even think about buying a turbo from these people. As has already been said, they are poor quality turbo's and i've heard a few stories of them failing and 'grenading' themselves

If you want a decent 18g or 20g get one from Andy Forrest which is what I did in the end. He also takes your old turbo in p/x

Some of their parts are ok and good value but the 20G they do as a unit seems to under perform by some margin.

I had an Email from a different factory in Taiwan last week, they were offering replica TD04's brand new for $112 US !! Thats about £52 ! This week it was a "better than Garrett" GT series for $150

A mate of mine bought a TD05 20G from this place, and in the end had to send it to the above (Andy F.) to re-work it, as far as we could tell, the 20g that my mate received was a diesel spec, and really is not for the use they say it is for, cant remember now why this was, but safe to say it is definately worth doing a trade with your old TD05 with Andy F., for one of his turbos, and avoid JAWarehouse,
PS, the turbo is now running well at around 370bhp, was live mapped on the road, but rolling road this thurs, although with my mate taking this route it cost him 200 quid more than if he had gone straight to Andy in the first place.

They are copies and not from Japan as they claim.

Hmm... We Have bought one of the TD06 20G's from this company, who do not really seem to know a lot lol.

Before buying we emailed and asked if they could do us one without an Internal wastegate, so we did not have to weld up the Penny valve to run an external wastegate setup.

When the Turbo Arrived, it had No Actuator, but had an internal wastegate, and the paperwork said No Actuator.

When i contacted, them they said in Japan No Wastegate means No Actuator.

(So why did the paperwork say No Actuator, The Turbo came from Japan so surely should say No Wastegate? Right?)

anyway i was having problems with them, so i Gave Andy.F a call and he told me to check out S.N as people on here have had bad results with their Turbo's.

The Turbo itself looks good, but is fully debadged, so no way i can confirm if it is def a TD06 etc, but it is Much larger in Size, to the Modified VF34 we have just removed.

I will be fitting the Turbo tomorrow, so will keep you informed as to how it performs.

The car was only mapped 2 months a go and was running 384BHP @ 1.4Bar of boost, this was done at Power Engineering.

For reference the cars spec is:

02 Bugeye

93 CDB, Modified for STi 9 Crank.
STI 9 X Drilled crank
RCMS Omega Pistons +.25mm
Arrow Rods
ACL Race Series Shells
RCMS Modified oil Pump
1.1MM Cometic Head Gaskets
Heads Ported & Flowed
RCMS Headders
Full 3" Decat & HKS Exhaust System
Walbro Fuel Pump
Sard 650cc Injectors
HKS FPR
Inlet Manifold replaced with one from a WR1, doing away with the Tumble Generators
Exeedy Triple Carbon Clutch & Flywheel Setup.
RCMS Pulleys
Perrin Short Ram Induction kit
Electronic Boost Controller

Hi Andy,

How would you say the one on my car performs?

I have to say it is superb it really is. (380/351) it did on you road dyno. I may run some more boost to see if I can either kill it or the engine then the 2.5 /MD321 is on the way

Your car performs really well Alan but I think yours is a different (earlier) version again from the one in this pic ?
One issue would appear to be the compressor wheel to housing clearances, on some they are much greater than the genuine Mhi turbos, some can be brought back in spec with a wheel or housing change, others need both.

The car has Just had a Simtek fitted and Mapped By Engine Tuner in Plymouth..... And the turbo has not come out to bad... but still not what it says on the Tin..

the following power was obtained running 1.2Bar of Boost running only 97 Ron Fuel....

This is the low boost Setting.

[

The High Boost setting at 1.65 Bar made the following...

I have to say.... Alan is well pleased..... for the moment... till he gets bored and wants more lol....

Is that on the 06-20G as opposed to the 05-20G ? Looks like full boost around 4500 rpm where the torque levels off on the low boost map.

What spec are the ported heads ? are these the CNC ones Alan/Martin were mentioning ?

The Turbo is a TD06.... Its the one i phoned you about... that came without an Actuator...

The heads were ported by myself. but are running std cams... etc.

This is also the car that Alan / Martyn spoke to about with the Carbon clutch that was slipping....

This turned out to be lack of heat in the Clutch....
This has now been changed... and the Exeedy carbon is up for sale

The car is still running 650cc Sard's

Here is a link to larger pics, for some reason i cannot get the site to link to the large ones...

Back to the initial topic, I have only even bought a TD05 16g fitting kit from these lot, and it arrived promptly and matched the description, so no probs. Seem to be a lot more negative experiences than positive though, so il shut up!

I bought an 06 compressor wheel rather than risk the money on a whole turbo.
The wheel was obviously a copy and the certificate or origin was from Taiwan.
I am aware of two JAW TD05-06 20G that perform satisfactorily but I am aware of several more that appear to have produced poor results. However, I also know of 18Gs that appear to give good results and these have come from JAW. Only last week Jonny Gav told me he had good results from a JAW 18G. I still think it is very risky but if someone asked for an 18G from JAW to be fitted and it performs well then I think I would risk it as it seems to be good value for money if it performs.

There was a thread earlier this week in Technical General on exactly the same thing.

I was thinking of buying a turbo from these guys so i sent them an email, this was the reply.

Hi

Usually my products come with 3 months/10000 km warranty.
As for your doubt, I have to emphasize that I don't and never sell Chinese rubbish products.
All my products are assemblied in my Japan factory and tested on the VSR machine.
They can work very well. So you don't have to doubt that.

Regards,
Ichiro

Im still not convinced.
