Question Anyone used the sound deadening kit from shop?

I'm thinking about getting this:

Welcome to ScoobyShop

Anyone used it, fitted it, does it work, alternatives?

Think carefully before adding any sound deadening (and large audio installs for that matter) as they tend to add huge amounts of weight to the car. Resulting in less performance and fuel efficiency..!

I've been contemplating the NoiseKiller kit too. I'd be interested to hear comments/results.

I doubt it adds that much weight that it would effect performance. Unless it's lead lined

Surely to be effective they have to be dense material and therefore heavy..?

Unless things have changed since I last looked into this 15 years ago..!

Why would you want to do that? Just put a decent exhaust on and wheels that aren't that big you can actually fit tyres.

What a big ***** you must be, you don`t buy a road going version of a rally car to worry about road noise or engine noise. Next you will be writing to Subaru to tell them to make quieter exhausts because they are too noisy.

In a Forester there is no bulkhead to partition the boot, just a parcel shelf made of air...hence the ambient noise level is higher than in an Impreza...

I was quoting the ***** cat who is planning on doing this to a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX, it just defeats the object of owning one of these cars if you want to quieten the boxer roar.

Fair enough in a Forrester as thats no prob.

Hmmmm..... not quite. Have an 03 JDM STI with the TSL 333 fitted (by previous owner)but the exhaust note is annoying at 3k+ for normal road journeys. I'd rather add a little extra weight than lose the exhaust!

Just buy a backbox that sounds good and doesn't annoy you. I had to do the same when buying my car as some eedit fitted the tyne tunnel to the back of a spec D.
