Default SCOOBY 4 DOOR - REALLY?

A friend of a friend sent this images to me, claiming his Scooby is a rare 4 door P1 genuine from Subaru- click on the images. The images are small but you get the idea!

I thought, rubbish then saw this:

Thoughts please? Why would someone go to the trouble of mocking up a fake letter, though I'm sure it is fake!

Its an STi
The P1 had blue patches on the seats instead of the familiar red that you get with the STi's

I've heard of a development/prototype P1 in a 4 door shell, as well as the white P1. There's also a DBM P1 which a customer wanted it sprayed that colour.

Imho whoever owns this 'p1' would do well to bin the rear chavtastic lights

Chap I know had another one of these a couple of years ago, sounded a bit odd to me at first admittedly but I'm sure another one cropped up on here which made it sound a bit more plausible!

Also noticed it has no head lamp washers!

This is what I reckon it was originally, like I said, website registration checks say this car is a Subaru Impreza 2000 TURBO AWD

If anyone can verify this it would be prodrive themselves. Why not contact prodrive.

........... because the P1 is an STI in a 2 door shell; i.e. it has ABS, but no DCCD, intercooler water spray etc. It's nearer to an STI5 than to an Type R or RA.

Mike Wood gave this explanation of what a P1 "is"

A P1 isn't a Type R with bits removed, it best described as a V6 4 door built into a2 door bodyshell with Type R suspension. Bit more complex than that as some parts were fitted in Japan and more were fitted in the UK but it's more correct than saying it's a low spec Type R.
Here is the white P1 now owned by a member on here Stevie333

Couple more bigger pics!

Still think it's what the registration says online, Subaru Impreza 2000 Turbo AWD, Is that a UK model?

reg's are penny a pound if its an import, when I was looking for a classic I noticed many imports were registered as WRX etc even though they were STi's or Type RA's.

However that particular one is registered as a UK Turbo, which indicates it was intended for the UK market. Like others said, get the VIN etc, plate details and send them off to prodrive to see if they know the history.

Always nice to find rare breeds in the Impreza family

i'd go a little further than that...$hite is closer to the truth; totally out of proportion on a classic
