Default Uk Spec 4x4 Turbo T Reg - Newbie Questions

I am new to Subaru Imprezas and in the past stuck with a number of calibra turbos.

I have decided to change and have just looked at a really nice UK spec T reg 4x4 Turbo and I had a few quick questions.

Firstly I know that they are not the same spec as the imports and the uk P1 but would i be right in thinking that a T reg which i think is 99 is the 214BHP model not the older 208?

Secondly are these as easily modified as the other models particularly regards the performance kits, superchips and prodrive do and any other? I would like to get the car upto about the 250 - 260 BHP mark if possible to boost the middle rage up?

I have spoken to superchips and they only do it for the 214BHP models which they list as below.

So im a little confused and unsure that the T reg UK spec 4x4 Turbo is actually 214??? Am i right in thinking that a 99 UK spec 4x4 turbo is NOT a WRX?

Can it be remapped if so where and if not is it only the STi and WRX models that can be modded?
Cheers Mike

Mike,
The exact models covered under the 214bhp blanket - Model Year 1994 to 2000 are:

Series McRae Turbo 4WD 4d
2.0 Turbo Catalunya 4WD 4d
Turbo 2000 Terzo 4WD 4d
RB5 Prodrive Turbo 4WD 4d
RB5 Turbo 4WD 4d
Turbo 2000 WRX 4WD 4d
Turbo 2000 WRX 4WD 4d (SR)

The model not covered is the Impreza P1 4WD 276bhp and any Impreza after 2000.

Hope that helps
Regards

Stuart - superchips

The 99 Uk spec are 215BHP.

UK models of the classic shape are not WRX's. The WRX's are the imports.

You will find all the info you need here:

hope that helps

Great so it is the 215BHP just not WRX.

Is it modifiable?

i.e. particularly remapping and other performance work to make 240-280BHP?

If so any places better or worse for the work?

Thanks for all your help.

Yes.

All impreza engines are very modifiable

A decent full decatted exhaust system, panel filter, along with a remap should be good for around 240-250BHP.

There are many recommended mappers out there, just some are Powerstation, Scoobyclinic, Bob Rawle and Jolly Green Monster (who is a member on here)

Buy an import better spec and the power you want as std.

More cost effective for you i reckon.

I have looked at imports but they are quite a bit more for an older car where as i can get the UK car and modify over time if i do at all.
