Nooby Advice needed please.
Hello
I have a 1999 classic uk estate at the minute as a family runabout for shopping and stuff, my main car is a bmw 330 touring which is a company vehicle. I must be honest and say that I have just owned and run the impreza and never really had much imput into it, the wife just uses it and I stick to the beemer as its good fro my work (im an estate agent) dont all rush to throttle me
anyway my company car is up for change and I have been given the chance to have an impreza for my new company car. I am tempted but id like to know what sort of mpg ile get out of the latest uk sti/wrx? I can pretty much have which I want, but I have to pay towards the fuel so I want to get the best one for mpg.
so what can I expect to get?
looks like a good forum, cant believe how many forum comments have been made!! mental.

Scooby's not ideal for what you want IMHO
MPG not as good or as refined as the BMW
How about a legacy instead (non turbo)?
Depends how much performance you want versus economy.
I'd be looking at a BMW 335 etc etc or diesel equiv

I havent considered a legacy. I cant even picture what they look like.
I am only looking into it at the minute, I am going to be buying the bmw from work I think so I will still have it to use if I needed.

welcome to scoobynet
im not sure about the newer ones, I think they are a 2.5 engine over the 2.0 you will have in your classic wagon (presuming its a turbo?) but iirc you can expect to get about 18-25 mpg from the newer ones. that will really depend on how heavy a right foot you have though, it will be a lot less if you boot it everywhere.

thanks for the welcome.
18 mpg!!! ouch.
yes mine is a turbo, but im sure we are getting a hell of a lot more than that out of it, saying that I dont drive it much, I will check..
I drive fairly steady, as I need my licence to keep my job.

George - stick with the Beemer - a 330d this time if you're paying for the fuel - and chip it: trust me it will go like sh@t off a shovel [got one/similar business] and the image is better too sad to say.
But do let the turbo cool [most of our fleet of 20+ 330d's have had a new turbo around the 60K mark - under warranty - so we now change the oil at 8,000-9000 miles too [abouth halfway between services] and regardless of what BMW say this regime works though we do get fed up telling their service people "Look, we know the service isn't due yet, but we're the customer paying the bill so JUST CHANGE THE FRICKING OIL AND FILTER!!"
