Perhaps it's better they have experience of a pokier car, i still see plenty of diesels learner cars though.
Don't think there any rules about what car you learn in.

There's a Corsa vxr driving instructor near me, always thought it was a bit mad, his insurance must be massive, but then I suppose it is anyway.

my lessons wew £10 back in the day not sure what price they have reached now?

I would of much rather learnt in a Cooper s than a terrible corsa lol - perhaps they get these cars as they will keep there value better when they come to sell them?? who knows.

Nahh i think its just they get more trade if they have a snazzy car. Would you want to learn in a 1.0 micra, or a Mini Cooper

when i started learning to drive in may 2005, it was in a 1.2 52 plate renault clio. not a bad car, but within a couple lessons, my instructor had bought a brand new red mini cooper.

"this is pokey" i mentioned to him a couple lessons later.

"thats because its a cooper s" he replied

got rid of that about 3 months later. wanted a blue one.
so i passed my test in a 55plate blue mini cooper s.

(it was my instructors fault i had to have performance cars from the off, not me!!)

My next door nbr (ADI) had a Cooper drop top but he had to get rid as the rear visability was not enough to meet the required standards, now has a cooper S. I think he charges c.£20 / hr.

Corsas weren't even around when I learned to drive in 1988. I learned in a Vauxhall Nova...remember them? I would love to have learned to drive in a scooby though.
