Hi, I'm thinking of joining the Scooby community.
Hi guys, I'm thinking of buying a Scooby but am a little unsure of what to get. I fancy a wagon but I'm not sure if there are any disadvantages compared to the saloon.
Can any of you shed any light onto this please?
Cheers

Well, they naturally are heavier and therefore slower as standard. Depends what you want out of a car really. They are still an Impreza so are quick and handle well. The best looking wagon is the new GB270.

wagons can be more practical mate, I know I struggle with only having a saloon at times.
A couple of WYIOC club members have wagons and come to regular track days and perform well... more or less on par with the saloons

I used to have an X reg silver bug saloon but now I've got a 54 blue blob wagon.
We were expecting our third child, thats the main reason for the change but I also wanted a newer scoob in wrb.
To be honest, I felt very little differance in acceleration, handling and ride quality. That said I openly admit that I would reach the limit of my driving abilities before these cars reached the limit of their capabilities. I understand that there are various technical differances between the two and I believe the saloon is slightly more modifiable but in the real world I didn't notice.
By saying your after an sti, I assume your after a classic. Not sure about them as I've only ever owned a newage.

If you want some real practicality, get a Forester, cheaper than an Impreza, only a little heavier than a wagon, and with a few tweaks just as fast....and you don't get every Nova trying to race you!

Bit fugly though. Perhaps if the OP posts what his requirements are we can give some advice. There are lots of options and these are dependant on what you are looking for in a car.

Ive had both and done trackdays in both, my99 models, very little performance difference between the two, the only thing i noticed with the wagon was it was a little heavier over the rear and more prone to oversteer than the saloon. both very good whichever you choose.

Sorry for the questions, I'm a bit new to the Subaru scene.
I don't really mind the Nova's, I own a Starlet Turbo at the minute so I already get my fair share of them. I have the willpower to ignore them even though I know I could destroy them LOL!!!
I'm still not sure that I want to get rid of my Starlet, it's so much fun but I'm getting older and I'm starting to think more about safety and practicality.
