Unhappy Doesn't anyone want beautiful classics anymore??

Any advice....

My Turbo 2000 MY99 UK Impreza is for sale , which I am deeply gutted about and very reluctant to sell - which is fortunate considering the 4 weeks it's been for sale I have had no interest in it what so ever - except for some dodgy time waster scamming to have it away in the dead of night!

It's a great car, excellent condition, FSH, it's under Classifieds Cars for Sale on here (admittedly only since 3pm this afternoon, but under General since mid-september) .... but not being in the line of selling please check it out, is the car too expensive?? Does it look cr@p or suspect?? Do scooby lovers just not want beautiful classics anymore and want mean 'n' meaty hawkeyes??

Looks like a very decent car at at a reasonable price id say

I'm surprised nobody has shown any interest

Maybe some people are afraid of the high(ish) mileage

Thanks, it really is a great car... but yeah, maybe you're right Deano P1, the mileage is pretty high - but I've cared for the car and it's been properly serviced, never tracked or driven like a 'chav'.... AND i've seen a hell of a lot worse with half the mileage!

Well a car with 100k on the clock with a full service history is better then a car with 50k on the clock and no service history.

Id say its reasonably priced as i paid £7000 for mine 6 months ago, MY00 but only had 52k on the clock

It looks a great car and at a very good price, my advice is to put it on pistonheads as that price will attract a chav as its their sort of price range.

You tend not to get the chav buyers on here as most are out of their price range, pistonheads is the place to sell your car.

Get it on pistonheads and autotrader and I'll bet you get some interest. Good luck,

i was expecting it to be green, but was pleasantly surprised.

very nice car, leather interior, momo wheel still, nice alloys, i was expecting a standard car,you know, the low level spoiler, gold 16" alloys etc.

the only thing that lets it down is the skirts/wing mirrors etc,but thats nothing (color coding)

weird, must be the time of yr !

i paid £4k for a 95 WRX !!!!!!

but that was 16mths ago

Looks like a nice car and a perfectly reasonable price - personally I'd ditch the dump valve, but otherwise just make sure you get all the exposure you can and be patient. I sold my first Impreza through an ad on SIDC, my second took 6 months to sell (so the less said about that the better!), and I bought my current one off Ebay. There's a lot of Imprezas on Pistonheads too, might be worth placing an ad there - it's free.

How long have you owned it?

How many owners?

Why has it a HPi Cert.? That's pretty thoughtful to pay for that before selling - but, as a buyer, I would want my own.

That makes me feel better! Everyone made me feel like my car was really expensive when I bought it in November last year. MY00 with only 41k on the clock for £6,500. Full subaru history etc, like a legend

To be honest the last thing I thought about was selling my beloved peice of metal to a 'chav' and was in hope of someone like myself (37 yr old unchav female) appreciating a brilliant car and continuing to look after it as I have done.... however, it is on Pistonheads, though I'm not too impressed with the site, there seems to be quite a few timewasters and idiots for my liking - that's why I initially put the car on here and have attempted it again.... if the car would attract more attention on here, maybe I should bump the proce up to £7995!

Firstly... I didnt HPI the car, the dealer I bought it from did that. I put the fact that it is HPI checked with cert as basically a fact that it's a kosha vehicle, though of course a prospective buyer is quite welcome to check it themselves.

The car has had 2 previous owners, both traded in the the same garage it came from new in Kendal for newbies, so I'm the third owner.

I bought the car in October last year. After driving my boyfriends (and absolutely loved it ) I decided to go out and buy my own.... however, I drive over 200 miles a week and frankly the mileage is high enough on the car and to be brutally honest I think a diesel is the only way to go for me now - if you could get a Subaru Impreza diesel with the performance this monster gives me now I would be first in line - but they don't so my pride and joy has to go!

I think you are asking for too much for the mileage.. people are scared to buy scoobs with a high mileage.. Mine was about to roll over 100k when I bought it and it was a steal been reliable though

Thanks, I tell you what, it is a very very nice car. When I initially looked for an Impreza I was heartset on scooby blue/gold alloys etc etc, but the minute I saw this baby I was smitten.

I know what you mean about the colour coded wing mirrors, but to see the car up close it looks the biz! My boyfriend always wanted to colour code it up, but to me the contrast of black bits with the black badge, blacked out windows and the black leather and the dusky deep silver just look sooooo nice that I just didnt want to change it!

Correct - reliability has been amazing. The car from day one has run like a dream and continues to. We had a glitch about Feb last year but a new MAF sensor solved that instantly... it's the little things that seem to cost a lot - but with the new MAF, new Lamda it's a steal at £4995 believe me!

'blob' is that a bugeye??

They looked dated the day they drove out of the showroom on day one! If I were you I would put my money is a classic (such as mine) or a hawkeye - there is no competition!

Well, me for starters. I had a MY00, then a MY05 - and after a break I've just gone back to a '96.

It's no longer my only car, mind - but as an occasional toy it's fantastic.

Mate i'm going to be brutally honest here - FSH or not its too dear for the mileage that you have on it - way too dear.

Its a buyers market at the moment.

I sold my 99 T reg which was lovely and lightly modded with FSH and 85k on the clock for 4250

I'd spent loads on it - i paid 7 k for it and spent 5-6k on it.

Gutted was not the word. i simply could not sell it, so in the end i dropped the price right down and it sold.

Get it in Autotrader - in my experiance you'll get a better price on there.

Well. I'm looking to buy a Scoob at the minute and although I always said I would have a classic, they are just that little bit too old now to put money into.

Even if they are well cared for, they are approaching 10 years old and major work will be needed on them to keep them running.

I've seen 2003 model blobeyes this week selling for around £6,995, £8500 etc so for not much more than you're asking I can buy a more modern 4 year old car with lower miles. Its sad, but the blobs/hawks etc are just nicer and more modern, even though they aren't really as nice looking.

You care too much. Once its gone you will have a sum of money, and it doesn't matter where that comes from, or what happens to the car once it leaves your hands. Note I didn't say your car If it hasn't sold at price X then that price by definition is too high

I wouldn't be so quick to drop the price.

If it's only been advertised for a couple of weeks, then be patient - of course you'll have to sell it cheap if you need to shift it in a hurry. But if you don't, you can afford to wait a bit longer for someone who takes a shine to your particular car and is prepared to pay a bit more for it.

It's hard to judge value just by looking at the adverts - a cheap car is no bargain if it's been abused, but unfortunately people with scruffy cars to sell tend to lie about them. It's only by looking at a few in person that you realise just why a particular car is cheap.

Take, for example, a car I went to see a couple of months ago. It was advertised as a '96 STI, and was up for just £2750. Turns out the bodywork was a mess, the gearbox was completely knackered, the CEL came on the first time I put my foot down on the test drive, and when I got out afterwards there was a burning smell. And it wasn't even an STI, but a WRX with a sticker on it.

The car was clearly a total pup - barely fit to break for parts - but the fact it was being advertised for sale at all wasn't doing the prices or reputation of similar cars any favours at all.

I ended up spending nearly twice as much, also on a '96 STI, but it's immaculate and drives like new.

I've always preferred the classic, I recently bought a MY99 turbo 2000 myself. It had FSH and has done 20,000 miles on a engine rebuilt by Subaru. It was up for £5000 but after watching it for 5 weeks i finally offered the chap £4100 and he shook hands. I've had 3 offers for it already, even though it's not up for sale, so there are still people insterested in them.

each to their own... but to be honest, when I was first looking for an Impreza there is no way on this earth I would have considered a bugeye. I would rather have paid 7-8k on a classic.

No disrespect if you drive one, but personally they are an ugly mistake from Subaru - luckily they realised in time and amazed us all with the hawkeye... erm except for that other huge mistake Subaru have just made, known as the S-GT turbo (if I'm not mistaken)
