Default Knocking from rear offside

I have a real distinctive knocking coming from the rear offside, sounds like it is coming from the suspension mount, there is no loss in handling and the suspension on that corner is as firm as ever.

The garage had a quick look and said they would have to take it all apart to see what the score was, any ideas?

It's an 04 STi, and had it's first MOT last week, that it passed.

Which kind of links in nicely with another infamous Subaru problem, or at least with imports and waranties, got mine from new via Cyprus, and is just over the three years now in any case.

Only saving grace is that it is a company car, will do a search on the rear strut and stick it in the garage again and cross me fingers, thanks.
