Default STI problems

I've had my new STi type uk for 3 months now and I love it. Theres just a couple of problems that my subaru dealer doesn't seem to be able to fix was wondering if you guys had anything like this before.
I seem to get a knocking noise from the steering rack above my knees if I drive over a bump whilst going round a corner. Also the brakes knock. They will knock once if I press them whilst moving forward then they will be ok till I press them in reverse when they will knock again ! Seems like something is loose. Its been back once but still the same, going in again next week.

The brake knocking is normal, at least it's always occurred on my 03 STI.

Not sure about the steering rack though...

The pad noise can be helped by making sure any pad guides are greased (copper slip etc) but is common when changing direction.
The column noise is a "feature" I'm afraid.

Agree with the brake noise - just the pad moving in the caliper. Not to sure about the steering rack though - it wasn't a 'feature' on mine.

steering rattle on mine too (05 STi).

various bits changed by dealer, but now resigned to fact its a 'characteristic'.

only occurs when trying on back roads though!
