JDM MY06 STI...
Hello first of all...
I have recently purchased a fine example of an import my06 STI( JDM)... As i live in cyprus there is 100Ron Fuel which i use in the car, since if im not mistaken in japan they usein such cars 102ron fuel which is how high their premium petrol is.... Whill this affect engine reliability or performance?
Also i would like to know if anyone knows how i could make the response of the car better ( it is a fly-by-wire) and how much horsepower does it has?
Btw the car's redline is at 8000+ rpms stock, since its a jdm but after 7000rps it feels like it hasno power... Ive recently found a dyno chart of a stock jdm sti, which shows it has just a bit torque left after that revs but the hp's line was still straight...(also no hp was written so i thats why im asking for hp)... Should i let the engine rev until 8000 rpm or should i change gear at lets say 7000rpm for maximum performance.....
Thanks in advance!

Depends where the power band is on those cars, not driven a JDM so don't know what they are like but on my 05 STi Type UK (with PPP) I tend to change around 5,500 or 6000 rpm as the power band drops off from that point.
Sounds like your power band tails off so might be worth getting it remapped for your fuel and see if that makes a difference, otherwise just use the available power band and have fun!

Hello
Right, you can change the panel filter to a good dry one (the STI one for example ) which will liven the car up beyond 6.5k where it seems a little reticent, fuel wise your ok, they run fine on 100 ron, even on 98 ron as the ecu on these is very good and they retard the car much better than the older ecu's did.
Power wise, about 500rpm from the red line is where things normally drop off, as stated, 7k is fine, you can take the car to 8k, they are designed to run that anyway and the average BHP of these cars is about 300-310bhp on 100 ron fuel (when they loosen up a bit )
More power? for that you would need a remap (not a new ecu but a remap of the standard ecu that is on the car) not sure if they do that in cyprus, would be a little cautious about decatting the car, they dont like that at all, but have a full decat and remapped at the same time by someone who knows what they are doing and your looking at about 360bhp
