I've spent nearly £4.5k on mine in the last year, just on servicing related stuff

Thinking of getting rid of it and having something completely different now as the costs are getting silly...

Bought mine a year ago this month. I've done £4300, but I expect the price to go down now as most the pricey mods have been done.

Just a few things left to get, a 6 speed gearbox, 2.5 bottom end, new turbo, new interior, respray, new alloys.......

Yeah thats should be too much

Setting aside petrol, insurance, road fund and my modifictions, in precisely 367 days of ownership (as of today) of my '93 WRX, it's only been in for work three times...

- First, the flasher relay and some wiring burnt out - £48 to sort.

- Next it went into Zen for a 60k service plus cambelt change (that's everything on Subaru's schedule). Also needed doing were rear foglight wiring re-sorted; two replacement wheel studs; a set of rear brake pads (Mintex); plus alternator and air-con belts replaced. The whole bill came to £719.

- Lastly, it went in for an MOT at Scooby Clinic and needed a replacement O/S steering bellows replaced. Whole bill for £172 incuding MOT fee, travel to MOT station, etc.

Total expenditure in 1 year, 2 days for garage work was £939.

If you factor in all the other expense (mentioned at the top of the post) - especially money spent on mods. - then I dont wanna know!!!

Ok, in the last year....

New front discs, pads, and new front caliper (which came to about £2k altogether), a set of types (£400), 2 lots of servicing (£250 and £630), £50 petrol a week (£2600), £1k for insurance...

That little lot comes to nearly £7k, and I've not even done any modifications

Now it seems the clutch is going, and I've been told that one of the support beams (which the front suspension etc all hangs from) is going rusty and will need replacing before the next MOT (at the cost of a couple of thousand or so). Not really what you expect from a car only 5.5 years old.

The amount of money this car is costing, I've nearly payed for it twice just in servicing and running costs. Ther term money pit springs to mind. I'd never buy another Subaru now...

Not had my car a year but relatively modest 1k (or just under) so far but I am sure that will change soon enough.

My previous car (RX7) robbed me for about £8k

dont even want to think about that tbh lol.In the last year 2 dealer services one with cambelt, aux belts and brakes all round (ouch) an additional oil change with filter, almost every sensor on the engine, full exhaust downpipe back, plus modifying insurance and petrol so quite a bit,but worth every penny when you floor it and the revs just go nuts and it throws you at the horizon plus what i dont spend on the car id probably p**s up the wall

Not information I would put in any public place the wife may track it down!

My monthly mod budget is circa £50 which of course I strictly adhere to!

Service, mot, 2 new tyres, front splitter and a few other things, total cost around £700 which I think is pretty good to be honest!

£4K and thats just fuel and insurance, then there's mods, tax, tyres, brakes, servicing (do it myself but parts still cost), oil changes between big services. breakages etc. basically a lot of money.

Not as much as some on here it seems.

Sti spoilers, wheels and tyres, mats, exhaust, panel filter, splitter, springs and geometry and full sti Brembo's with braided hoses (purchased but not fitted yet).

In total with labour on the brakes it comes to about £3000!!!

And i still have plans for a re-map and full de-cat pipes which will be around a grand.

Iv only owned the car since the 3rd March 06, i hope the wife doesnt see this thread!!!!!
