McRae Respect Convoy
15 Sept
IF it is true that Colin has been killed in the 'copter crash - I'll be flying a black flag for the next year.
Let's set up a ScoobyNet Convoy date for 15th Sept Annually ?
Would Colin have liked the idea ?

Same as above, I always wanted a scooby after seeing Colin McRae drive. I would go as far to say one of my heroes.
So if someone can arrange a badge or something to put on their scooby as mark of respect please do so.

I was thinking exactly the same thing....can whoever sorted out the Burnsie one,do exactly the same for Colin.I think it was all through paypal and the money donated to the family. I know this may be a bit early as formal identification hasnt been made, but it looks like it was him

Yes i propose
all the subarus in the UK should get together for a national meet
The Richard Burns lands end to John o groats run had hundreds of us involved and with Wilky leading and doing the full journey it went down as one of the greatest scooby events ever ...
many thousands was raised for charitys
where do we start with this
?

The club or the combination of clubs representing that county meets at the Northern or nearest border point and receives the the fund raising 'bucket' from their Norther cousins. They then carry it through their county in convoy and hand it over to their Soythern neighbour... People can join in through as many counties as they wish...
Just a starter for 10...

Could we at all base this on regional convoys? What I mean is all of the North & South Clubs get together.
For Example the WYIOC, NYSOC, Cumbrian Scoobs, Tyne Tees Scoobs could all group en masse. Creating a large convoy of cars in memory of this TRUE LEGEND.
We all need to work together on this. Just a suggestion.

Great idea Alan Another thought. Couldn`t the convoys stop off at points of interest, tourist spots & collect even more money?

Prodrive to Lanark would be an appropriate route with stop off in Keilder
www.scottishscoobies.com , part of the SIDC will be organising something very large scale very soon

Just need to work out the best route through so that all the Counties and clubs wishing to take part are represented....
Not every club has the people able to make or take long distance journeys, so a county border to border run would seem to be the best bet... Those willing & able to drive half or the full length of the country can do so alongside the clubs...
I do like the idea of a stop off at various places to collect money and take some pictures.. or each club can add it's own Charity funds into the larger pot from individual efforts.. whatever suits the club(s) I suppose as it'll all be for a very worthwhile cause.....
I think something worthy representing the charity or fund raising should be passed over at the border.. be it a flag of our heroes or just a simple token that represents the charity.. so that any media or picture events at the various stops can be done around the same symbol....
How about a mass raffle? Selling tickets from Land End to JO'G?
Each club / county does a mass raffle and sends all the money raised, names and address stubs onto the next county team. Once at Lands End (who is the club(s) down there?) all the money and tickets from the country wide run are sent direct to the charity.. this way, they can draw the winning tickets and tell us the toal amount raised......
SNET's own management team can be the focal point for the goods to be raffled and the draw made after the journey ends....
Seems a plan is forming.....

In a bid to include as many clubs up and down the country, could I suggest two convoys (one East, one West) running parrell up or down (A1 and M6)the country meeting at a designated point.

Looking good there Alan
Squirrel didnt realise you have been rebranded awesomepossum
a true scottish legend
i will look forward to meeting you and the scottish boys again on this which has to be the
####### ULTIMATE SUBARU CONVOY in memory of collin #########
Can one of the scottish boys contact Wilky who led the RB run as i feel he should be involved too (also the legendary Corsa boy too )
We will get the LADS involved as they are master fundraisers too

We probably need to put together a list of the counties and their respective clubs as I'm not sure how far Scoob, Impreza or Owners clubs go... (interesting work in itself!)
We may be able to do it top to bottom without issue.. but if it does have to split then the East to West would have to be dome or we could have parts where the route splits and rejoins at the next County down... (My paltry start and I'm not going to guess as getting it wrong may be a bit embarrassing..PLus some clubs may cross a few counties....)

The ideas are all amzing lads and truly worth the effort involved creating such an event.
Prodrive in Banbury or as close as feasibley possible should be the meeting place of any converging groups.
Lanark is not far from the main Scotland - England M74 so would be easily accessible for everyone North or South.
I know this idea may scare the hell out of the Southern based owners but it is the only viable idea that will cover everyone from Truro to Dornoch Head
An initial plan has been hatched of Leaving Lanark at 5am on the Sat morning and travelling down the M74/M6/A66/M1 with the final destination of Prodrive in Banbury. The convoy would gather groups from all areas at pre arranged service areas and eventually the convoy would arrive en masse at a campsite near to Prodrive. At the campsite there ould be much ale drunk in honour of the man, as he did like a good drink. With a gathering of Subarus to be held on the Sunday at the Prodrive complex* obviously subject to thier approval.
This would allow the hardcore people to do the whole convoy if they arrive in Lanark on the Fri night and also cater for those that just want to join a mass group of Subaru owners that simply want to pay respect on the Sun.
www.scottishscoobies.com .... part of the SIDC, are going ahead with this event and all details will be posted up here to save anyone having to sign up to SIDC just to take part
Lordharding, lost access to the email account linked to Squirrel555 so i choose Awesomepossum in memory of Mr Bourne. I am now never using that username on SIDC again due the make of the copter he was travelling in. Please add me to msn thesquirrel555@hotmail.co.uk
