Snobery?
The whole waving thing. Im very used to it as the last three years i have driven around in an old land rover, which has the same wave culture as the impreza it seems. Although there is a degree of snobbery, old series landies wave to each other but not always to the newest land rovers (and vice versa).
Is there anything like this in the imprezas? I have had waves from loads, but can almost gurantee a wave if osmeones in a classic!

A lot of people say the new age drivers dont tend to wave, but I find I get more waves from the new age drivers as most of the classics are driven by yobs round my way
I never actually wanted to buy a classic to be fair as I didnt want to look like a Yob, I prefer the mid life crissis look of the new age cars

Had one wave from a classic owner so far, to be fair you don't see loads of Scoobs/Evos my way either.
I guess the running costs and acquired taste of such cars means numbers are few.

I drive a new age and I wave at everyone in any model Impreza. I get waves back from most people, most of the time.
Ive even waved at people when I'm in my girlfriends A3, then buried my head in embarassment as they look back at me slightly puzzled
Ive tried to come up with some kind of sign language that communicates "MY OTHER CAR IS A SCOOB" but hey are usually a couple of miles away by then asking the passenger "do you know that mentalist back there ??????"

I have a newage and I always wave, a lot of classic don't wave back though, then i just put that to ignorance and not snobbery...i hope!
I sometimes flash when i'm in my company focus and drivers usually look back thinking i've lost it.
Maybe we should have a 3-flash wave to show "my other car is a scooby"

I wave at STi's not WRX's ... possible snobbery? I'm never sure whether to wave at classics or not. Tend to hover my hand at the steering wheel so if they wave at me I can wave back

I can't get me head around this waving malarky
9 times out of ten everytime you catch a glimpse of another Impreza in your rear view, you can almost gaurentee that he's gonna break his neck and try to catch you up,presumably to impress you with his eardrum-shatteringly loud exhaust and dumb valve which the pleb usually gives you the benefit of as he passes you flat out in a 3rd to 4th gear change while in a 30mph limit(well from my experience anyway)
I find it all very embarrasing I'm afraid, too many twots driving them these days...just how are you supposed to recognise the enthusiast from the complete lunkhead then?

Seem to get most waving back. But I usualy do a quick flsh or a nod, not to look like a complete plank if they don't wave
First time i took the misses out she though i just knew a lot of people heheh !
So I guess there is little snobbery, just a difference between enthusiasts and kn0bs
