Hello....

I am in the process of doing my new website and in the interest
of the community I thought I would find out what you would like
to see on an Impreza-related website...

So, here are some questions...

1. What really annoys you when visiting a website, frames, popups, use of Flash anims etc?

2. What would you find most useful? A Link database, forum, FAQ, on-going experiences, pictures, guestbook, gallery (that you can freely use to upload your own pics, movies, sounds etc), track guides, product reviews??

3. What browser do you use the most and on what platform?

4. What would you class as a ground-breaking feature?

5. What would make you want to revisit the site?

If you could take a couple of mins and jot down some of your ideas that would be great...

thanks,
Matt.

Some thoughts...

1. Whatever you do, don't use popups. I hate them with a passion and rarely visit a site that has them twice. Frames are also - IMHO - a bad idea. Not all browsers like them and they add unnecessary complexity (ie the risk of bugs). Broken links also irritate the cr4p out of me.

2. All of the things you mention. Bear in mind their is a pretty good FAQ on SIDC (albeit in need of an update) and their is already an upload facility.

3. I use IE4/5 on NT/2000.

4. Simply a well thought out design and thorough testing would be good. Too many sites over complicate to look clever and also don't test properly leading to broken links, thumbnails that either don't expand to a larger image or expand to the wrong picture etc.

5. Good visuals and easy navigation.

Sorry Dave, but if you think Flash is a waste of time, then you havent seen anything usefull done with it! it downloads a dam site quicker than most animated Gif's for a start!

make sure you include some footage of that fantastic epic film LOTR on your website (much better than Star Wars), as you obviously enjoyed it so much

Thumbs up

Is Lord of the Ring a Stef film?

I use IE 5.1 on Mac OS 9.2.2 and IE 6.0 on Windows 2000.

I personally hate popups, would love to see something where people could upload descriptions of mods, what they paid for them and what they do...

eg, "I bought a Scoobysport back box, the noise is fantastic, and I paid £x for it used on Scoobynet".

Just an idea.

Simon.

The only thing that really annoys me is pop ups and forever having to close them.. I will leave a site because of them.

Flash is also a waste of time.. wait ages for it to download for 5 secs of nothing.. want easy info and quick links

I use Mac OS 10, Internet Explorer 5.5 (for Mac) etc.

Dave
