Default Drag racing - Santa Pod

Went to Santa Pod on Saturday for the European finals. If you've never heard and seen a top fuel dragster in full chat, it's one of the things you MUST do before you die! Nothing prepares you for the noise level (it's actually pysical!) the possibility of sore eyes due to the unburnt fuel) and the bare performance figures eg 0-100 in 0.8secs. 270 mph at 1/8 mile! 303 mph at the quarter.
Fascinating to watch the team work as they strip the engine after every run!
If I were prime minister I'd ban it all due to the pollution
Anyone else go there, over the weekend? I saw a number of Scoobs.

If you've not watched the Jet cars, you've got to.. They literally suck the air from your lungs as they go past and if you can get a seat in the barn you'll get suffercated

Those who've never stood in the barn when the jet runs up are in for a shock! How long can you hold your breath?
Initial acceleration of a jet car is slow relative to a dragster, but from just under half way they GO! 275mph terminal on Saturday.

I went yesterday and it was awesome. Went on the bike mind you to beat all the inevitable queues, jolly glad I did. Good value for money too, £24 for me on finals day and £8 each for grandstand seats. Under 16's are free .

The Top Fuel and Funny Cars made the grandstand shake and the poor woman in front leapt out of her seat in fright every time they took off. You would have thought she would have got used to it after a while. I had ear plugs in and covered my ears with hands and it still hurt when they started, and as for the jet cars when they hit the afterburner button!!!!

As said, one if those "must do" events before you die. As the commentator said, it is the loudest motrosport on earth.

You pre-booked? Brave when you consider that the slightest hint of rain stops the show!
Bit slow getting in on Sat. due to people using bl***y credit cards! why can't people get a bit of cash out before they go FFS! Santa Pod has to be one of the most awful places to get in and out of!
