Question

When I was at TSL the other month having new wheels fitted on my WRX, Paul pointed out that a few of the fins were bent on my intercooler and that it reduced its efficency. I was wondering what people thought to the Intercooler Shield that Power Engineering do, does it work well and is it worth the money???

Thanks

Graham

They seem to be a good idea, have seen some priced at £50+,saying that a large diy store sells sheet mesh in aluminium at a fraction of this price does the same job, all you would need are 4 bolts to drill through the alloy sides either side of the intercooler to hold it in place and there you have a shield.

B&Q £10ish for a sheet 50x50 Drawn Steel.

Just bought a sheet not sure if it's galvanised though, might need a lacquer. PE one does look the business though.

Had the PE shield fitted to my car just before xmas cos quite a few of the fins were bent. Looks very good and it's suprising the amount of cr@p it catches of the wonderful british roads Might be expensive compared to the DIY option but I'm very happy with both it and the service from PE

I once found some stones on my intercooler which had bashed it up. This DIY job cost about a quid and has stopped anything else getting through. I like the idea of a more open mesh so there's no significant restriction to airflow. The ends are just cut to shape and bent over - no drilling. Sits very snugly when the bonnet is shut and can be removed instantly if needed.
