Default 2.5 questions

hi chaps.

my scoob is nearing the 140k figure and hasnt yet had a rebuild. ive been looking into loads of engine options but i keep coming back to the 2.5 conversion.

i have a few questions.

1) do i need the 6 speed set up?
2) what is the cost for the engine to be built and fitted?
3) can i use my heads?

anything else i need to know.

im planning and apexi power fc, and a tdo5 20g will these both be fine for this conversion?

For nomal use no The Torque of the 2.5 will probally more suited with the longer gearing of the 5 speed box

Not much greater than a 2.0ltr £3- 5K ish too many variables though

You need a alternative to your current gear box as it will not cope well with the 2.5.
The 6 speed is generally the cheaper option if you go for the uk 6 speed it will have longer ratios and will be a more straight forward swap saving you money on labor. The second alternative would be a ppg gear set or similar but this works out more costly and also generally overkill if you are planning on 400ish

You will also need to consider your current fuel set up, so account for larger injectors pump and regulator. Your existing heads and ancillaries are a straight fit to the 2.5 block so you can use what you want, your oe intercooler will also need replacing with a fmic etc. The phase one water cross pipe will also need moding or you can replace this with a phase 1.5 this is due to the second breather/balancer on the 2.5 block

The 20g is well suited to the 2.5 motor with 1 bar+ boost coming in around 2600rpmand will produce over 400bhp..

To begin with the 2.5 often works out a cheaper alternative if you’re keeping the power to similar figures but like others once you plan on more the cost soon goes up.

Default Boring !!

Ask your insurance company if you can get cover....

Mine won't allow a 2.5 conversion, but a huge 2 litre with FMIC front mount and nitrous is fine...

You work that out... I can't !
