Default Hawkeye STI remap

Who has had the above done and is it necessary to change the spark plugs?

Heard conflicting opinions and not sure whether to splash out for a new set prior to my remap next month.

Don't expect to get a definitive answer, all I can tell you is that when I had mine remapped I opted for uprated plugs.

View my scooby, has remap results and spec

The figures look good.
What sort of figures do you think could be expected from a remap of an 06 Spec D with PPP?

If its Mocom Racing mapping your Spec-D, the figures will be good

Figures aside the driving experience post remap is far superior to the experiences I have had with standard cars or PPP'd . Not that they aren't good and save your warranty bla bla bla

So does replacing the spark plugs protect the engine after a remap or is it purely in the interests of more power? If the latter how much difference do they make?

So a 3" system really helps - I'd also like to know if that included a sports cat.

To achieve this it cannot be by any means a 'cautious map'...

Even Dynamix's map is not achieving that, and as I understand it, that is basically on the limit of an OEM setup.

...stands back and waits for loud bang

loud bang new bits fitted the bhp figure though is from the datascan as it was road mapped so is pub figures but will get it on a rolling road , but even they vary i know. At the end of the day it goes very well

An 2.5 06 WRX doesn't have a cat in the up-pipe, unlike the 2.0 05s...

Not sure about the Nm to Ft Lbs either ?

509Nm = 375 Ft Lbs

or

350 ft Lbs = 475Nm

What did it make at the wheels as some of these figure seem a little generous

Thumbs up This is what I got at the weekend after Bob Rawle Remap

Had Bob Rawle remap my 07 Sti at the weekend
2000 miles on the clock with 3" Miltek sportscats, K&N, Walbro 255H, 1 grade colder plug ILFR7H NGK's running on Shell V Power

Std Torque 289 ft lbs mapped 410 ft lbs
42% increase WOW (ppp 332 ft lbs 15% gain from standard)
Std Power 280 BHP mapped 368 BHP
31% increase (ppp 316 BHp 13% gain from standard)
Allowing 22% Transmission losses
Air Temp 30 deg C

Not too noisy it pulls like a train, love that sound as the turbo spools up, Bobs very thorough & I have no worries about it going bang

For Info 1NM=1.355582 ft lbs

The big guy at power station said it has a catted uppipe and that its a big restriction, andy f said that a decat uppipe was a good next mod and it will require re map afterwards to stop boost presure spikeing.

Mike it was 292 and 331 at the wheels, when graphed that will show as 370 bhp and 420 ft lbs (ish) allowing 22% transmission loss (same as the Dyno Dynamics Rolling roads) There are some that consider Impreza 4x4 losses to be in the 2 wheel drive area however I don't subscribe to that view. Data taken in 4th allowing a weight factor of 1690 kg, air intake at 19 deg C.

The same model following yours made 20 bhp lower due to the fact that the owner had put some BP Ultimate fuel in it !!! He normally uses V Power. So two cars identical models and mods.

These cars make good figs conservatively mapped (by my std's) and there is no need to go ott, the stage 2 tune which adds headers and 80mm induction to the decat and fuel pump (with panel) really hikes things up and makes the car scary even in the dry if not careful BUT I will emphasise well within limits even then.

Marky9074 ... what stds are you using to judge what is cautious or not ? I have had cars make well over those numbers on the new age oem ecu with supporting mods.

cheers

bob

Hi Bob,

We were given the impression that these figure were from a standard 2.5 with little if any supporting mods. Then the poster come back and said that it was modified and had gone bang, and had had bits replaced.

loud bang new bits fitted
My comments were purely aimed at a standard 2.5, with little if anything done to it....

I would be intrigued to see what you would think would be a headline figure for mine with the mods I have, and will send you a PM

Cheers,

Mark
