Someone I work with used to have a Civic Type R and we met on the way home along the Chester high road. It was at the last set of traffic lights before Neston with clear road ahead so a good chance to compare car performance. It was comical, well for me anyway. Must have pulled out about a 5-6 car length advantage on him up to about the speed limit (60mph) then I backed off and let him go past. The roads were dry so a fair test I thought

Hi dan, thanks all is good ta and hows things with you. Suerely you're not in work today. I did have a look at the CTR a while ago but found the steering had a very vague light feel to it so you couldn't feel the car on the road like you should be able to. The engine had more torque than the earlier Honda's but you still had the rev it to over 5000rpm to get the max performance out of it. Also in the wet was a pig to drive as the front wheels would spin far to easy. For less money I got my Classic Impreza and haven't looked back on my choice

The brother in law used to have an ATR didnt like it.
Unless u keep it over 5k rpm it was gutless i dont see the draw of them to be honest.
Loads of power at 7500 rpm but no torque to get u there.
My old 330d BMW used to eat it
I wouldnt bother with one.l

Most of my friends have owned a type r of some description. The best i think is the integra type r, must have been one of the best handling front wheel drive cars i have ever driven. Didnt fair to well at Oulton Park though, might have been due to lack of low down torque. Gr8 cars on their own rite i think ... no real match for imprezas really but the new civic type r saloon does have 250bhp and looks pretty tasty.

funny isn't it on a subaru forum all you hear is how sti's and ppp wrx's beat them....of course they will look at the power output of them compared to the ctr. but get an early turbo with no ppp kit on it and theres not a lot in at all, a ctr can keep with a turbo it won't be able to go past but it will hold it's own.

i had a play with a new integra type R and wow, it beat me !
mine is restricted and he went in ffront of me on a bypass, i didnt think he was up for playing, i tried catching him up, he outbreaked me easily, then we were head to head and it was edging away then the limiter kicked in

I was behind a Integra Type R on my way to time Attack @Knockhill and leaving a built up area he booted it big time, i though "why not" and floored my car, (first time i had proper opened it up)after i had checked my undercrackers lol, i caught up with him and overtook him relativly(sp) easily i though, nice car but looked suspect on the sharp bends. gave a wee wave and away i went.
