Burning smell from clutch?
When riding the clutch in traffic and reversing, get a burning smell from the clutch, the car only has 25k on the clock - It's perfectly OK when driving does not slip or judder, I've read that this is just a Scooby characteristic, any truth in this?

The Answer would be dont ride it. While your 'riding' it, your burning it out. So shortening its life by a fair amount if you can smell it.
The only time i can smell mine is if i do a flatout standing start which induces clutch slip.

Sorry i have to disagree. If your sitting in traffic and can smell clutch. Then i sugguest the clutch either isnt dis-engauging properly or the driver is slipping it which isnt good practice. Its not normal unless maybe your towing a heavy load up a steep hill all the time.

would not recommend riding your clutch mate, the handbrake pads are a lot cheaper,i get a smell off mine if i try to spin it off the start,if you burn your clutch out you will need a new clutch and also more than likely a new flywheel as the flywheels always get heat cracks in them sometimes you can skim the flywheels but not recommendedod, and i will tell you what mate they are a bit of a nightmare to fit,i watched mine get put in at my mates garage and its no two minute job, your looking at a canney bit of wedge for a new clutch and flywheel and then fitting
