Default What catback system are you running??

What catback system do you have and how have you found it sound wise??

Just looking for some reviews so I may base a decision on which catback exhaust to get. I'm toying with the idea of a Nur Spec R at the moment but it seems that there aren't many about with that exhaust, is there a reason for this?

Any reviews are very much welcomed....

Cheers

Aye, I heard they were loud and that the sound was good, I just need to know how loud they are inside the car, if they are really intrusive at cruising speed or mentally loud on slight acceleration then it wouldn't be for me. However, if it has a nice deep burble on idle and at low speed and acceleration but then all hell breaks loose when you floor it then its for me. Basically I want to know its there all the time whilst not being OTT and then as loud as you like when you are giving it some.

Heard some sound clips and it did sound superb, deep and aggressive I'd say.

I've got a Revolution 3" system. I wanted the quitest 3" system that does the job and it came recommended as one of the least intrusive 3" single box exhaust. It won't win any beauty contests though

on newage or classic mate?

on classic- magnex-bit too quiet until decat. firestorm afterburner- great until decat then a bit mad

on newage, prodrive-just about right with a de-res pipe, favourite of them all is my current Genome back box though, just an awesome sound that strangely keeps quiet until you get above 3k then all hell breaks lose

Do you find your tail pipe sits quite far under the rear bumper ?

I started with a Ninja - Too quiet for me.
Then a Vortex afterburner - Fantastic sound all round.
Now I have the Blitz ASBO (Nur R) . To be honest it is almost the same in loudness to the Vortex.

Blitz...............

Thanks for the replies lads!

Yeah I heard a clip of the Vortex and it did sound pretty good, just from the clips I liked the sound of the Blitz the most.

bob r - Does the Blitz backbox sit really low or something?

Also does it sit straight out underneath the bumper or is it at an angle?

Cheers

Have a look at my pics, the third one you can see the exhaust.. It doesn't stick out very far no, and it sits straight.

it seems fine to me

The difference between the Nur Spec R and RX is the RX was designed to be quieter, or more compliant for noise restrictions, its quietish at low speeds but crazy when you want it to be.

Right, might be an idea to look at the RX then instead of the R, especially if the R is as mental as everyone says it is.

If the RX is a nice compromise then I may go for that.

Cheers

go for the nur spec r...it comes with a bung so when you are going on those long journeys just bolt it in and it brings the sound level right down.

Either the RX or the R, I'll decide when I have a good talk to the lads at Revolution, as that will be the place I'm getting it from, seems to be at a decent price and the service down there semms to be spot on.

Meercat Custom.
Meercat Custom Exhausts and Performance Centre

£400.

Some more pics in View My Scooby <----

You get to choose all the parameters like style, tip, loudness.
It's louder than the Vortex system near me, but with the bung in is quieter than the Revolution system. Best of both worlds!!

It also flows much better than the other systems, being less restrictive.

Let me know if you'd like some clips of how it sounds.

Default Blitz

I have a Blitz nur spec r on a classic, with the bung out it does sound great stops pedestrians in their tracks etc, but does get too much on long journeys. Removing and replacing the bung is a five minute job and it still sounds good with it in and will set off some car alarms etc.
The only problem I have encountered is that the bung is only held in by a small screw and it can cause the bung to rattle when in which sonds like a loose clamp. I spoke to Blitz and there is no real answer to this.

I have the Blitz asbo with a 3rd de-cat on a bugeye WRX, I think it sounds great, but I haven't taken the bung out yet.

And yes, it does seem to sit quite far under the rear bumper compared with the magnex I had on before.

After hearing some clips, I think it will either be the Nur Spec R, which is looking like £460 or the Afterburner system from scoobyworld for £350 like you said.

Going off the sound clips I've heard the Vortex and Afterburner midpipe does give a nice deep rumble on tick over and at low revs and it seems to have quite a 'meaty' sound when climbing up the revs, which is what I'm after. That is why I like the sound of the Nur Spec R as it does exactly that.

I'm at Revolution on tuesday as I mentioned so I will have a chat with them and get their opinion as they will have dealt with tons of scoobs that have had a Nur Spec R system on.

Cheers
