Alfa 156 v Bugeye Wagon
I'm looking for a new car thinking of either a Alfa 156 2.0 4 door or a Uk WRX Bugeye Wagon.
I know the WRX would be more expensive to run etc but how would the running costs between the two compare?
Both cars would be around 50-60K with full service history
Cheers

Basicly a family car, used to have a classic but got rid when we had a baby.
Have been using the wifes 206sw but is now a little tight on space so perfect time to get a wagon.
Wife's not to happy because of the running costs so what else is out there that looks good, won't cost to much to run and a car that I like.
If the Alfa costs nearly the same to run as the wagon i'll have one and the ear bashing from the wife

I own a 2001 156 2.5 V6 and a 1997 WRX STI v4 wagon, like said in another thread, two completely different cars.
Alfa is cheap, I mean you get a lot of car for your money, (I only paid £3400 for a 57k mile tidy example), but not put together very well, engine is very good but not quick and it is quite thirsy, 20-25mpg!.... No real problems with mine other than the immobiliser plays up now and again, oh how I love Italian electrics! 2.0 twin spark models require cam belt changes every 36k miles! Nice Momo leather interiors. IMO an average car.
WRX is a better built thing all together, handles better and is considerably quicker. I think it is a better drivers car. Suspension is quite a bit stiffer, my wee daughter finds it a bit bumpy in her car seat in the back. A more expensive car to buy initially and than the Alfa and due to the fact you will always want to "play" with the thing it will cost you more to run and tweak it. Way more "street cred" than the Alfa.
The Subaru will always hold its value better too.
Cheers

Personally, given the choice of the 2...... I think I would go Wagon.
Practical, reliable, not THAT bad for servicing, running cost would be ok, especially driving with the family in the car, no hooning.
Knowing people who have had Alfa's and nothing but trouble from day 1, I would deffo say scooby.
Alfa, build a beautiful car, but still aint quite got the making it move bit sorted out yet .
Subaru, make OK looking cars, good spec, reliable, popular, and fun to drive.
