Default Road tax for Imprezas - how much for what year?

With the introduction of mega high road tax, which Imprezas cost what to tax?

I guess classics are around the £200 mark but what about an 02 STI Bugeye Prodrive, a 54 plate STI and an 06 STI?

My shortlist of Imprezas is Prodrive Bugeye, P1, 54 onwards STI (DCCD-A) All UK cars (unless I find a JDM Prodrive bug which is unlikely)

Just think £400 a year is a flippin con!

Car registered before 1 March 2001 are based on engine size:-

Not over 1549cc - 12months £115.00 - 6 months £63.25

Over 1549cc - 12months £180.00 - 6 months £99.00

Cars after 1 March 2001 are based on emissions:-

A Up to 100 - 12 months Not applicable - 6 months Not applicable
B 101-120 - 12 months £35.00 - 6 months Not applicable
C 121-150 - 12 months £115.00 - 6 months £63.25
D 151-165 - 12 months £140.00 - 6 months £77.00
E 166-185 - 12 months £165.00 - 6 months £90.75
F Over 185 - 12 months £205.00 - 6 months £112.75

For cars registered on or after 23/03/06
G Over 225 - 12 months £300.00 - 6 months £165.00

So an 02 STI is £205/£112.75, an 54 STI is £205/£112.75 and an 06 STI registered after the 23 March 2006 is currently £300/£165, which will rise to £400 for the 12 months next year.

Hope this helps.

Just to annoy you even more - my sons EVO IX FQ320 (worse polluter than a Subaru) on a 55 plate - £180/yr!
Although it's an official UK car, it's classed as an import and hasn't got a Co/Kg rating!

No, it's based on when the car is registered in the uk.

Beware the newly registered / SVA tested car! I have just registered an 'X' plate 2000 car that i SVA tested last week. I wrote out a cheque for the DVLA for £149, that's £99 tax (6 months) and a £50 first reg fee. I got a call from them an hour later telling me my cheque was £66 light........i only want 6 months tax i said, that is for 6 months they replied!! As it's a newly registered car and was SVA'd (another f**king tax!!) it's in the new higher £300 a year tax.........b@stards!!!!!
I also registered my 640BHP GT-R and my RX7 that day......the GT-R belts out some insane fumes and is £180 a year, the RX7 is nearly as bad in emissions and that was £68 was 6 months yet the STi has much, much lower emissions than the pair of them put together

Aren't they gonna go on when the car was actually registered, e.g. 2005? Rather than when the car was registered in the country?

Wonder if 04 Scoobs will hold their value more than the newer ones based on cheaper tax?

Doubt it. The tax of newer cars only was just to get the bill through the door. Give it a year or two and all high emission cars still on the road will be taxed heavily. It's just another government money making scheme and has bugger all to do with the environment.

Yes, you are correct and i'll be honest and tell you i didn't realise this myself until registration time All imported cars (irrespective of age) will suffer the new charge if they are SVA'd, if they are 10 years old or older and only need an MOT then they'll be under the usual £180 PA (over 1600cc or thereabouts). I spoke to several people in the DVLA as i couldn't believe how much it was to tax an 'X' plate car but it was correct after all, if your car was registered before the last budget then you should be fine in the pre 09/2004 lower bracket.

It's a fecking con! My 54 plate Spec C is caught in Band G as it was registered in the UK Jan 2007. This is despite it being registered in Japan in Dec 2004 ... another money spinning con by our wonderful Govt. I'm currently trying to pursuade the DVLA of the error of their ways. When I started a thread on this a few months back someone posted that I'd be flogging a dead horse seems to be about right.
