Am i doing the right thing, My m3 for a STI??
After owning a V2 STI about 2 years ago, i'm now in the process of selling my current e36 M3 to go back to a STI.
Dont get me wrong the M3 is superb but i'm missing the turbo action, or possibly want a change...i dunno
So my possible budget is upto 7k and want the car for performance, rather than a everyday car (we have a tdi for that). What version STI do i go for, are all performance figs the same between versions? Your input is much appreciated
thanks Paul.

Well first things first, after owning a bmw for two years, will you be able to get used to using indicators again?
are you talking 7K on top of your m3 or 7k total? (and how much is the m3 worth?)

Paul do it mate,
I did exactly the same, sold my e36 M3 and got a sti type uk prodrive v7 (couldnt quite afford a v8) managed to get it very cheap, they are out there for the money, just be patient.
Best thing I did, BMW was good and does give the feel of a well built car, but the scooby is a laugh and if you can put up with the difference in the feel of quality, then the grin factor will far out weigh it.
Hope this helps.

£7k should get you a nice STi of v4 vintage. May be a v5

Lol Once you have a scooby, you just can't go back!
I had a classic MY00 for 4 1/2 years, best car I've ever owned. Then I sold it for an '05 JDM STI which I didn't get on with nearly as well, it never really felt right unless being driven hard. So, I sold that last year, and bought a 330D.
I pick up my STI V2 on Friday
