Recently bought a full exhaust for my car with full decat, but have been told that the uppipe has a CAT on my02 WRX, which in time disintigrates and can ruine the turbo, my car has done 82000 miles and most of this has been spent with that CAT on the car.

The car does come on boost ok but sometimes feels quicker than others, could this be something to do with the turbo?

im sure the only cats an your car are after the turbo !!

 

O rite, can anyone else confirm this? I was told only the STI had 2 CATS whereas the WRX also had one before the turbo

WRX's do have a pre-cat in the up-pipe (STi's don't) and yes it is advisable to get a decat up-pipe as the cat can break up and if it does it will ruin the turbo

 

yep they certainly do Mine melted into the turbo, new upipe and turbo bill £1400+ not nice

 

WRX's have a cat in pre turbo, Sti's are straight through. I'd wip it out
