Unhappy HELP NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am new to turbos and subarus so please bear with me. This afternoon about 4pm i was reversing out of a space in the local beach carpark and gave it quite a few revs (not thinking that the turbo needs time to get oil in it) then the smell of burning rubber/plastic arised (the clutch was half up) It was stinking and when looking under the bonnet i noticed the smell was in the turbo area. I carried on driving home (about 5 miles) and all the way it was still smelling. I then left it for about 5 hours and took it for a spin. There is a little bit of a burning smell but not noticable (i kept pulling over to check if the smell was there). The car still has the power there and the turbo seems ok. Could the problem be my clutch or my turbo.
thanks

If its like a burning plastic smell probably just your clutch, oil smells different.

If you have cooked it a bit, its possible that it will smell for the next few times you take the car out.

Wink

What does it smell like? Turbo (Oil) or Clutch? The smell of a little poorly controlled clutch will last a while.

Probably just smell venting up the rear of the engine, also when it comes to smells your mind can play tricks on you...Phanton smells from the Turbo, are more than likely smells from the whole area, you mind just is werey of the Turbo.....IMO if it smells like clutch it is clutch, particularly if your reving high to get going; on a beach!...why would you do that?....

p.s. my drive is on an incline, and i wont use the clutch even on that, i make sure the car has momentum to get up, rather than balancing 300bhp on the clutch up a hill, allbeit a small one..

Turbo is at the back of the engine, gets VERY hot, warm air rises, sucks the clutch smell up with it, clutch is not far below...........
