Question Noob question

Hi all,

First let me say what an excellent site. This place has cleared up so many questions I had.

I'm looking to pick up a scoob in December probably a '95 - '96 model but I need a bit of advice on imports!

My local petrol station (Asda) only sell 95 RON and I hear that that's not good for jap models. I could use octane booster but as my nearest 97 - 99 RON station is 11 miles away I'm going to end up using gallons of the stuff so can you have an import converted? If so, what's involved?

Also, would an HPI check find out if an import had been written off and repaired in it's original country?

Sorry if these questions have been asked before.

Thanks

If you run it on that stuff your sure to be in for a bad scooby experience, a 95 - 96 car would prob be best with an ecu like the Apexi power FC.

A cheaper option would be somthing like this... https://www.scoobynet.com/private-sa...chip-pics.html

Cant run an import on 95ron. eg I bought a Twin turbo Legacy in Yorkshire, couldnt find a shell garage so filled it with RIX fuel (never heard of it myself till then) drove 250 miles up the M6 and the bottom end was knocking when I got home.
Amazingly, a young whippersnapper pulled out in front of me at a set of traffic lights 2 weeks after buying it and I promptly wrote it off, collecting more from the insurance company than I paid for it.
I now own an MY99 UK turbo and ALWAYS go the 30mile round trip to fill it with tesco 99.
I aint risking it!
