KNOCKING FROM REAR ON MY BUG!!!
alrite guys
had my my52 bug eye for about 2 months now
and noticed from day one a slight knocking from the rear
this is only felt at 5-10mph ish in forward or reverse
at 1st i thought it was due to the stuck on wheel weights as the front ones have worn down due to clipping the front calipers
but the rear ones are nowhere near the calipers
the only way i can imagine the knock is that it feels like there is lump on the rear offside tyre tread as it seams to lift the car a tiny bit
cant see anything wrong with the tyres at all
was going to get all four wheels re-balanced to see if its still there
falling that i reckon it will go back to the garage for futher inspection
still got 12month warranty on it but wonderd if anyone here had similar problem
cheers guys

Hi there, I'd put £££ on that's it's your Rear strut (Shock) As mine started to do exactly that! Only at low speeds. And for sure as it lifts the car up a bit ect. apparently it would be good to get both replaced but I didn't know that. Try and ask but you might get no joy.

as its an STI V7 i'd agree with Alex, My mate (Scottish Jim) had his rear shocks go a few times and after the warranty ran out decided to put Teins coilovers on it which solved the problem and really sharpened up the car in the twistys.
If you replace the original parts like for like more than likely they'll go again.
Seem to think its some design issue with the sti V7 shocks as i've only ever heard reports on these and not any other models.
good luck with it If its on warranty i suggest making a claim asap

I had same problem on mine, although I had a JDM STI Type R but I got the same knocking noise.
I ended up contacting Roger Clark Motorsport and they sent me a rear shock to try (very helpful people) put it on but still got some knocking so I spoke to Roger Clark again and they suggested the top mount so took the shock back as didn't fix the problem.
Never did get round to trying a top mount as someone wanted to buy the car off me before I had chance/time to do anything but I got the old man in the back while taking it for a drive and when he held the top of the shock/mount area, he could feel it moving when hitting slight bumps etc so thats probably what it was.
So in short........... probably shock/top mount
