nice weather expected today, so may give the scoob a good clean.

thing is, only a few days ago i washed, dried, polished and waxed after that.

whats better for the car if i dont want to do everything everytime.

ie wash, dry and wax good enough for a nice sheen.

or should it be wash dry and polish.

heard differeng opinions about waxing a car more than polishing and vice versa. opinions on here guys?

i'd say wax more than polish. i only polish twice a year as it wears down the lacquer. decent Meguiar's wax or AutoGlym and you should be laughing.

i usually use mostly autoglym products inc the super resin polish, but after buying some poorboys wax of a guy on here, i was inclined to think that waxing would be more beneficial as it seels the paint and protects more. or so im lead to believe.

 

yeah autoglym polish is great but i wouldnt use it all the time. good for removing caked on brake dust from wheels though! stick with the wash and wax, keep polish for a few times a year. wax protects the paint, polish cleans it right down. or so i believe anyways.

 

yeah, pretty much what i was thinking. so when i do polish, is it polish before i wax then? (reason for thinking being the wax is a sealent in sorts and should be applyed last to... erm... seal )

shouldnt need luck lol. washed many times before, but only waxed once. i am now a changed man. all i wonder is will the wax shine the car up as well as the polish did?

this was the car last week after the wash, dry, polish, and wax. oh and all the black bits done with b.i.a.f.





(another tip i find useful... the super resin polish on the windows is bloody good too, inside and out - obviously not on the windscreen, but every other window. uber shiney)

 

cleaned mine with the meguiars 3 step clean kit first step after washing was paint renovator then step 2. polish and finally 3.carnauba wax.

wasnt sure about how often to do the full clean again but this has already been answered above.

aye, as a personal thing, ive always preferred the autoglym stuff, hence the question. it is good how meguiars split it into steps though. im just popping down halfords now to pick up some more autoglym clean wheels. may take them off later on the driveway and clean inside and out/paint calipers red etc.

uber shiney wheels. seal them off too while im at it.,

 

yeah autoglym is british isnt it? LOL. just a note - a guy i know at a wheel factory said don't use wheel cleaners on alloys, just use whatever you use on the bodywork - especially if your wheels are painted.

 

should be ok, wheels recently refurbed and have been using the same stuff since january without ill effects. i always thoroughly wash down anyways.
