As the title says, what is the most embarrasing moment you have had in your motor?

Mine was the other day, sitting at Mcdonalds car park in MK having just bought my nice hamburger...Loads of boy racers about driving in and out and checking each others cars. Finished my burger, started up, ground it into reverse gear (whoops!), pulled out and stalled it. You can imagine the laughing and pointing, epecially as my car isn't the most inconspicuous motor!! Bugger!!!

Fortunately the guy parked up next to me in a modded BMW did exactly the same thing!

I would have thought that sitting in your car in a MacDonalds car park eating a Big Mac, with a load of boy racers, was more embarrassing than stalling it!

Point taken!! Although fortunately I can say that the visit to the golden arches was following a visit to the cinema, so at least I can't be tarnished with the boy racer brush! I'm a little old for that scene!

mine was actually this morning i think. sat in some two lane traffic lights outside the local steelworks. some old dodder next to me with his mrs in a jag. thought nothing of it. until... the lights went amber. he screeched off, looking over his shoulder at me smiling in his automatic jag.

"im having none of this" i thought after morphing into chav mode

so i drop the clutch, 1st to second, catching him up, then 2nd to..... oh **** wheres third. crunch, grind.... "get in you bastid". threw it into third after some serious revs, looking stupid, and realising a lorry had entered my path via slip road that leads onto the lane immediatley after the lights.

slight abrasive action onto the opposite side of the road.... and jag had given up.

chav mode off, felt a plonker for two reasons

• i missed third... TWICE nearly melting my gearbox
• i rose to the bait of some wrinkly stuck up old dodder in a car worth 10 times mine, but 10 times slower.

In the first week I got it I went to fill it up. I tried to squeeze too much juice in and it just gushed back out all down the side of the car and over my feet.

I had to ask the garage attendant to do his bucket of sand thing.

I did feel a bit of a tit.

Not had this car for long so I've not got many stories yet

Not long after I got it I gave the Scoob a little too much welly on a wet round-a-bout and got some serious drift action, I did control the car but I know for a fact my face was saying "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ****TTTTTT" and another scooby owner was sitting in the oposite direction on the exit I was taking and he looked very dissapointed at my chilidish actions lol!

Gets the Thumbs-up from small children. Very embarassing.

Also, staying at a very posh hotel on business a few weeks ago. Car park full of top of the range BMW's, Merc's, Audi's, etc. Spot the Chav pulling up in his Blue STI complete with Gold wheels and loud exhaust. I did fell quite a pudding.

Some time ago I had to pick my Daughter up from School , this meant going down a College's road thats allways full of Teenagers changing lessons.It full of speed bumps and you have to travel VERY slowly

A gang of 8 lads line up on both sides of the road and start bowing

Not quite in the Impreza but whilst cleaning it.

I had bought and fit a front splitter and was polishing it up, the sun was beating down and I leaned back to grab my beer and look at what i'd achieved and took a swig of the Turtle Wax
The wife almost pissed herself when she saw me in the bathroom with black teeth
It was quite creamy.

Probably the best one (of many) was resetting the mileometer whilst driving out of the petrol station........believe me it's hard to turn the steering wheel with your right arm through the spokes, so could only go straight on.

Scared a few people inside the Shell garage....ending up a couple of inches from the door !!

pmsl, did that when I first passed my test in my lovely (RIP), mkI XR2...but i was going round a roundabout at the time

stripping second gear in my wagon at a set of lights was pretty embarrasing or the leaky oil filter that was dripping oil onto my wrapped headers so everytime I stopped smoke pours out of the bonnet vents which makes everyone desperatly try and get out of yur way whilst in traffic jams was pretty fun too

Years ago, one of my mates dad's got into his car one morning to go to work. He got to the bottom of his street, then proceeded to crash into the front of someones house.
The idiot had forgotten to take his steering wheel/brake lock off, so couldn't brake or take avoiding action.

I remember feeling sick after laughing so much when I was told.

Ok I have quite a few

Numptie mistake 1.
Came out of a petrol station, wheel on full lock, went to reset the trip and yes my hand got caught up as i spun the wheel. nothing like that moment of panic when you cant get out of the situation

Numptie mistake 2.
doing some work on the car on my driveway (which slopes), handbrake on. went to back of car to jack it up using a trolley jack. wondered why after a few seconds whole car was heading off down the driveway towards the main road . managed to run ahead of it and stop it. then stood there for ages until my 3 year old son came outside. I shouted to him to go and get his brother. (god knows what I was going to do with him..put a 6 year old as a chock ). son never appeared and all this time , I was trying to look casual and wave to the various neighbours without alerting them to my obvious mistake. eventually managed to work my way up the back of the car and drop the jack. Felt like a complete tool when a mate explained where the handbrake was

Numptie mistake 3.
After giving the car a good clean the night before, come monday morning went to a lovely deserted spot on a hill to take photos before going to work. stereo was on, briefcase in boot, phone and satnav in their holders.
take loads of photos inside and then close the door to take some more of the outside. yup, door locks on me, no keys.
have to walk 3 miles to call a cab, get home, spare set of keys and then cab back. fully expected the car to be gone, but no. there she was still blaring away the music...and i had 18 missed calls and 8 messages ..whoops

I have loads more, but for now, that should be enough

Hmmm well I have two...only reason one is embarassing cos it was between me and TSL and the other cos it was done on the public roads..


I live in brentwood essex, had booked in at tsl in notts to do the 333 etc, 2hrs drive all the way up there, umm Mr J where is your wheel unlocking nut? erm shud be in the spare wheel etc, erm nope...had to drive all the way home

Second one was driving along in chelmsford, doing the slimit i may add, load of 'lads' walking on the pavement on other side of the road see/hear me coming and start pointing to which a *ukkin pidgeon swoops and smashes into the bonnet and is then sucked into the damn scoop!! feathers everywhere!!

to which simple emergency procedure was followed in such cases..

/look straight ahead
/show no emotion
/do not catch eye contact
/swear and scream very loudly when 1/4 mile further on and out of sight!

Years ago on my way to work some guy was flashing and waving his arms at me as I was going round a roundabout, it was around the time that road rage was hitting the papers, he was pretty irate and pretty much forced me to stop in my tracks in the middle of the road, I opened the door with stop lock in hand ready for what I feared may happen next, as I was about to politly ask him what the hell was up he opened his window and told be I had a flat tyre, I carefully dropped the stop lock into my footwell and said how kind he was and got back into my car and crawled off to the slip road.

This has got me thinking back to previous cars!

Many years ago I had a Mk4 XR3i Cabriolet (when they were cool).. If anyone has owned one you'll know how sensitive the steering lock is...

Anyway I was driving along and I got bored of the CD I was listening to, as it was a cabrio I would lock the glove box to stop people nicking my CD's so I thought I know I'll quickly take the keys out of the ignition and undo the glove box so I can grab my CD wallet... All was fine, I quickly unlocked the glove box then I realised I had to correct for the slight turn in the road... <CLICK> steering wheel locked as soon as I turned the wheel so I stamped on the brakes which didn't quite slow me down enough before I hit the kerb

Davey, the above was in a 90 spec cab, and yes, that stearing lock had caught me out a few times in the past aswell, usually when i was pulling onto the drive in a rush, keys out while coasting to a stop and then click, and DAM I'm still turning!
