If anyone ever has cause to complain when dealing with independants you dont know when ya well off.
Subaru uk customer service..a joke
53 car..uk ...fsh...28k
usual rear shocker problem..
will not honor a warranty claim cos its a non one owner car..
fifteen phone calls to get a no..never returned one call.

Any Subaru main dealer should honour warranty. Warranty belongs to the car not the owner.

your 'kin joking right. i remember discussing this couple weeks ago with you on the way to well lane. as diccy says, the warrenty surely belongs to the car, unless subaru have some sort of proof the cars been ragged to death, which im pretty sure they cant via 15 phone calls

story goes that they will not honour warranty as car over 3 years old..fair enough I asked given that the car is low mileage,uk spec and has service history and that this is a known fault would they help in anyway as a good will gesture..no.
I also pointed out that I am a well spending customer and always giving o.e parts the recommended route...**** off..near enough reply
they will not budge I wasnt lookin for a total freebbie..
full rrp crazy on a known fault given milegae of car..
£550 for something that will fail again..
looking for other options anyone found a none coilover route??
only gripe with car and have owned subarus 8 years now not just my bread and butter these cars..feel totally let down..
might sell it next year and buy a import with aftermarket warranty
puubaru uk..

take it your looking for something a little more sustainable than the kyb's your fitting friday? more fast road/track use bud?

are you looking to change shocks and springs in one go, or keep the springs?

well i have some tein springs which was the plan..but not sure which way to go now.
really dont wanna go coilover route, will bite the bullet if need be but if they fail again in short time guna be gutted..not a cheap job
aftermarket may be the answer.
shocks really spoilin a great car,the power delivery and handling on the move is all i hoped for and more just the low spead creaks and bangs from the shocks lettin her down.
ppp works a treat ,brakes fab, interior first class, love it being diff cos its white

To be clear was the car actually in warranty, as you say it was a 3 year, so its out of warranty full stop. I would have expected a goodwill payment at that mileage, especially as they surely know they have a problem!

Perhaps you should pull together the names and addresses of all those that have had this problem, write a polite letter to IM telling them the number you have, clearly marked copy to BBC watchdog.

Nice looking Impreza Jase!
At least you've a chance to inspect and fix the problem, you might have a good market for the repair then once you've sussed it!

I just had a goodwill gesture from Subaru under warranty. Needed a new downpipe off the turbo and got it. Was 6 weeks out of warranty.

car is out of warranty, the claim i submitted based on mileage,uk model, and known problem, also I know it makes no odds but I did add that I do have quite a high spend with o.e products. And do some positive marketing of Subaru range.
Really got no where!

Given the circumstances you may well have a good case under the sale of goods act. This says things should be fit for purpose and have a reasonable life expectation.

For example if you bought a £5 calculator and it died at 13 months you'd think nothing of it, If you bought a decent laptop for £500 and it died at 13 months it would be reasonable to expect it to last much longer and the dealer is legally obliged to replace despite being out of warranty.

There's plenty of evidence that these rear struts are not fit for purpose. Try this approach on with the stealer pointing out the law, if still no good then consult CAB or take them to court, depends how much you want satisfaction, it can be a grind. I did this (county court) over omissive errors made by a local stealer and it dragged on for 6 months and caused some loss of sleep but I did win although I'm dubious it was worth the bother.

Alternatively just buy ASTs, forget problem and enjoy.
