Default Aftermarket centre pipe on an STI PPP

I'm debating whether to buy an Afterburner centre pipe to go with my Afterburner backbox. My car is an 05 STI PPP, as I understand it there will currently be no cat in the centre pipe, but there will be a resonator to reduce noise, right?!

Anyone fitted one of these? Worthwhile? Comments would be most appreciated :-)

There is a silencer (not a resonator which is a different thing, although commonly they are thought to be the same) in the centre (already smaller than the one on the WRX).

You won't get a power increase, you will get a (relatively small from what I can make out) noise increase, mostly more 'burble' although a small amount of drone.

Hi mate,

hope the car is still giving you a grin! Miss her dearly

Always meant to sort the centre section as the exhaust definitely howls flat out but could definitely do with a a bit more burble at idle/ low revs, which that should definitely sort out. Has worked wonders on my Uncles Scoob.

All the best,

Dan

I have the afterburner centre with the racebox bb on an 06 STI and it sounds great to me. Pleanty of burble with no cabin drone, or very little, when cruising on motorways.

Exactly the setup i've got on mine M8 and it's 100% worth replacing the centre section to a unresonated one, not only does it release a bit more noise but it also lets the engine rev more smoothly

check my exhaust set up in my scooby ninja centre section with resonator and afterburner vortex back box. Looks and sounds great.
