Default Cat c need help!!!

Hi guys and girls need some advice,

my girlfriend bought a corsa in january, the guy said it had rear quarter damage which he had repaired - he is sort of a mate so didn't HPI check it.
now 6 moths on after speaking to a garage about part exchanging it for another car it came up on the HPI check that it was actually a Cat C write off.
he must of known it was a cat c as he bought it from a damaged car auction or so we've heard.
is there any way of claiming the money back as he most likely knew the car was a cat c when he sold it to us but never mentioned it as we dont want to sell it on knowing this plus we won't get anywhere near the money that we paid for it
Help please

come on,any corsa with quater panel damage is going to be write off...yiu should have done a hpi check yourself!!!!!!!!!!...it dont matter if he got it from an auction or was his own car when acciedent happened,he still needed a autherised report to get it back on the road,as for getting your money back you have 2 chances...bob hope & no hope....sorry mate you shold always check 1st

Don't be too hard on him! Lesson learnt fella, don't buy a car again without a HPI check. I even get HPI checks done on garage cars ... it's only a few £'s after all.
